Wait, is the new combined TES minimum has been implemented? I've compute Samo's TES that she got at Ankara: SP(33.24)+FS(64.41)= 97.65

The scores that she had has managed to get the JWC(72), 4CC(75) & Worlds(90) minimums unless they still use the old one which she also manages to get it as well. (32 for SP & 53 for FS)

Also regarding with her recent coaching change from Plushenko to Arutyunyan left me bewildered because the KAZ fed are willing to fund her in the US almost immediately (the cost of living expenses in the US is high) while they didn't do much for their local talents especially with the current Kazakh senior men which I'm scratching my head about this.

The 4CC and Worlds CTES have to be earned at a Senior competition, Ankara only counts for JWC.

I see, looks like that she needs to get at least the 4CC CTES mins if she still injured during the Denis Ten Memorial challenge which she need to take it one step at a time.

Well, if she can't secure the minimums for 4CC, JWC is an option.

I think they will want her to do JWC regardless of whether she does 4CC and senior Worlds. She should be able to place high enough at junior worlds to earn Kazakhstan two spots for next season's JWC and a lot more JGP spots.

If that's the case, Nebelhorn Trophy will be her final option to qualify for the Olympics since we can't expect her to get her 4cc and Worlds CTES in one sitting.

I think that she's better off skip the 4CC and do the JWC this season to get her chance to get a medal while she still healing plus she's 17 which she can another chance in the Junior circuit and she can get her Olympic spot at Nebelhorn next season.

Won't she take part in multiple Challenger events this season? I would assume she does Denis Ten, after this goes to the USA to train for three weeks, then does another Challenger event after this. She can do up to three no? Her fed is only giving the junior women one GP each I believe.

Based on the info that was gathered about Samo that she won't take more challengers for this season to give more time to heal unless she changes her mind.

I genuinely think she's over the worst with her back injury, unless it reoccurs (which is just as likely in training as in competition, if she's doing the lighter competition schedule we've been mentioning in this thread and not a heavy competition schedule). She has come on a long way since the Kazak summer competition, when it was said that she was recovering from a back injury. It also looks like she is being sensible and not pushing things too much with regard to spin positions and levels. I am a lot more hopeful with her than I am with a lot of skaters after injury because it does appear that she is being careful in how she approaches and manages things. She also doesn't rely as heavily on back-twisting pre-rotation for jumps compared to the Tutberidze skaters, which is again in her favour. Getting input from Arutyunyan is again a sensible step because his skaters use less pre-rotation and also tend to have more longevity. I am actually really impressed with how she seems to be approaching things.

It is unusual for the Kazak fed to stop skaters training in Russia, in the way they have with her. My hope is that they have done so as part of a longer-term strategy aimed at maximising her career (which would, after all, be in their own interests!) rather than trying to force instant but short-term success.

That's reminds me of a discussion in another site some time ago where the KAZ fed has a history of issues with Ice Dancers and Pair Skaters due to requirements of one of the partners must have a connection with country (if any of the two have relatives there at Kazakhstan)

That's reminds me of a discussion in another site some time ago where the KAZ fed has a history of issues with Ice Dancers and Pair Skaters due to requirements of one of the partners must have a connection with country (if any of the two have relatives there at Kazakhstan)

I also noticed that the Fed's focus on the speed skaters are quite obvious while being a bit oblivious to FS despite of their singles talent pool.

It's not an unreasonable requirement, I suppose, but if the athlets apply for citizenship, would seem redundant, since they themselves are now linked to Kazakhstan. I can understand ID, given how crowded it is, but pairs right now offer a lot of medaling possibilities.

They do have excellent pool, despite fairly low showings in JGP.

The coach said the goal is to have her skate at early next year at the University Games, the Asian Games and World's.

I imagine they are skipping 4CC and JWC with this kind of schedule already planned. If they miss out on World's, but have the minimum for 4CC I assume she goes to that instead or JWC.

I almost forgot about that, the Winter Universiad & Winter Asian Games. These events occurred in every 2 & 4 years respectively.
Most likely that she, Misha, Dias and the Kazakh Ice Dance team will go to the university games next year.

Speaking of Dias that there's a number of people in fstwt are taking a notice of him in both of his performances to the point that he's referring him as Kazakh Patrick Chan.
