Solene also said it happened at a competition last year which immediately made me rule Sorenson out because to me it sounded like it was like someone outside IAM otherwise I feel like she would have said it was within her training camp. Mentioning a competition made it sound like some from a different camp.
I’m confused about Chen too and the cryptic message from TSL. So are there rumours that Chen has abused someone?
No, at least not as far as the public knows (She's also not 18 yet, so that alone makes it much more unlikely).
Apparently there are some rumours about Chen being looked at by Safe Sport. There's zero proof of this at the moment , as far as I'm aware.
the point i was making though is that some fans were very aggressive to throw IAM under the bus, when
1) IAM didn't even exist when Nikolaj committed his assault
2)Nikolaj was training in Connecticut when the assault happened.
3) IAM could only do one thing but wait for the investigation to be conducted.
yet here, we have two major training centers with very suspicious behaviour and nobody seems to be throwing them under the bus..except for TSL : )
You misunderstand my post. Nikolaj's coaching staff in Montreal (before IAM was officially founded in 2014) was indeed Marie-France and Patrice. However, after Good's retirement in 2011, he was left without a partner. He did partner up briefly with Vanessa Crone, but that was short-lived. He then was doing try-outs. One of which was early in 2012, with Laurence. It didn't work out. So, why was he in a Connecticut training club? To train? To do a try-out with someone else ? Certainly not for a beach vacation ? So, that's why I am saying that he was training in Connecticut. If he weren't then, he was still not training in Montreal when the assault happened... in Connecticut right ? In any case, Soerensen's case has its own thread, so I am done about this topic in here.
As much as her father gives me the creeps, I don’t approve of holding Annabelle responsible for her father’s behavior. Not saying that’s what you’re doing, but I’ve seen other people doing it. I agree that there’s a long history of toxic male behavior in ice dance and pair skating.
The United States is a crazy place where this changes from state to state. For example, in Mississippi you can't get married without parental consent until 21. But at 19, she was legally capable of doing it in every other state.
Was that pair skater who took his own life over similar allegations not born and bred on US soil? Men are jerks and women are fools everywhere.
That's a really unfair judgement of non-American born skaters. Also, I'm saying this won't work for many reasons and it's been proven.
The problem why are these men moving here. I mean we know why the Russian men are moving here but why the others. There are a lot with histories and red flags that noticed in other countries and they just move on. The power imbalance is extreme between women and men. Women are totally at the mercy of men to pick them to be their partners so they can skate. That man can make or break a total career and that needs to change. Yes I know that US born and bred skaters can just as bad but the fact that women have so few choices in who they partner with in the first place is a huge part of the problem. I think anything that could increase the number of young men in these disciplines would be a great help because it could allow a girl to leave a bad partner that is showing red flags without committing career suicide. Think if Bella had more options would she have been al but forced to marry that jerk. Now her young career.ie in taters and she may never get new partner because of what happened which she had no part in. The lack of partners is what leads women to stay in partnerships that are abusive. Brigitte could not leave John without sacrificing her skating career that why she put up with the abuse for years. The coach was ultimately responsible but with so few choices she stayed in partnership that ultimately led to her death years latter from the trauma of it all. That why the gender imbalance needs to be addressed because women are at mercy of who ever wants them and even they can stand them they have to stay for the sake of their careers. Who knows what is happening behind closed doors in many of these partnerships. It scary to think what is happening. More choices for women would help a lot because it could lead to weeding out the bad apples before they damage multiple lives. There needs to be change and it has to start somewhere
You can't force people do what they don't want to do, and the assumption that a single skater can just 'switch' to ice dance is false. It is about as laughable than the premises of multiple romance novels when they just take a hockey player and put him into a pair with a suffering FS girl and they win Olympics in 3 month. To be an ice dancer, a man needs to want to ice dance, and the younger they are when they start ice dancing together, the better. It is particularly evident in how much better siblings duos do in juniors.
What did he do exactly? Why is he a jerk? Poor Bella. There are many girls who would not do what she did does nto matter how important thier career to them.
You obviously haven't seen the same social media I have. The reaction to this one - and the coaching team involved - has been almost medieval.
Who is this 'they'? As far as anyone in US skating is concerned, I cannot see that a grubby probably-sex scandal just before Skate America, at a time the fed is in a mess (that KnC!) and financially obviously struggling, would not be a disaster.
If solo ice dance takes off, maybe it will.

so no... i saw nothing here of the sort that i have seen a little while ago about IAM except for one very sensible post by @Jumping_Bean in this same thread who was calling it the way it appears to be, without going overboard.What about Isabella's parents? I think they must be aware of the situation
