2025 Skate Canada BC/YT Sectionals Super Series | Nov 7-10, 2024

Not sure William Chan got his tactics correct here. Given that he needs to qualify, he would have been better with easier tech content and a cleaner skate. Fell on 3A (2A would probably have been clean) and 3Lz/combo. 3F was ropey.
William's got a bye to Challenge, he's already qualified no matter what his result is here :) That gives him the option to go for the riskier jump content and get used to competing it.

But isn't he Manitoba or somewhere like that?
Yes, he's competing here as a guest. He's being allowed to do that since his its closer to his training location and he has permission to do it. He did it last year and was listed in the start order, but wasn't this year so I wasn't expecting him to be here.

Other than the fall on the opening 3S, that was good for Angelina :) 41.34 into 5th, 3-5 are all pretty close. Uliana and Amy have good leads.

63.2 for Shohei, it was a nice program for him :)

Ted, I needed David Li to do an introduction to tell me who his new coaches are! Messy landings on the 3F and -3T, he's in a new coaching situation now. 61.49, he's satisfied with it.

Just got here to the tail end of Angelina YinLin Guan's free skate, she had a TES of 47 before review. Went to 43.21 after review, and she went into first with four skaters to go. She should be going to Challenge this season :)

And Angelina is on the podium now.

Amy's TES at 53.66 before review, stronger than her skate last year at sectionals. 104.77 for the free, 160.47 total! Into first with Uliana left to skate :cheer2:

They must have filmed the intros before Uliana changed her free program, she isn't skating tango here.

Okay Uliana, I see you smiling and looking at the judges :) This program looks like a better fit for her than tango performance wise.

109.83 for the free, 173 total for Uliana for the win.

Kevin Reynolds on the technical panel for Senior Men, he might've been on it for the Senior Women too.

David Li - fall on the 3Lz+3T, and oh no he fell at the end :( I thought he hurt himself for a moment, but it was the end of the program. Other than the two falls, I think it was the best I've seen him skate this program. 119.19 for the free, 180.68 total.

180.36 total for Shohei, very close between him and David Li. David gets the win though. Messier than when he skated it at Autumn Leaves, but he marked the jumps in the second half there.

96.49 for the free, 136.45 for Nico Conforti. He had some bounce in his movements in the free.

Popped axel for William in the free, I think he's trying to add a 3A to the free too? Fell on the entrance to a flying spin, so lost the spin, along with two other falls. 108.09 for the free, 162 total for the win.

David Howes almost had the 3Lz-3T, but fell on the 3T 😭 Other than that, he had the best free skate of the Junior Men. 119.81, total 183.05 :party2:

So today all the Davids scored over 180 (y)

Okay Uliana, I see you smiling and looking at the judges :) This program looks like a better fit for her than tango performance wise.

109.83 for the free, 173 total for Uliana for the win.
The tango didn't suit Uliana. She didn't have the performance skills to pull it off.
