2024 Finlandia Trophy Free Dance

Total confusion reigned on judges' minds for Gilles/Poirier twizzles

Ron Conacher (Canada): +1
Richard Dalley (USA): -3
Leo Lenkola (Finland): -3
Vera Tauchmanova (Czech Republic): +3
Albert Saadi (Monaco): +1
Irina Medvedieva (Ukraine): -3
Kylie Anne Yacopetti (Australia) : -3
Espen Rotterud Runas (Norway): +1
Stephan Fernandez (Great Britain): +2

Another benefit that Lilah and Lewis have is that they perform in a lot of competitions and they are able to get the bugs out at challenger events where the stakes are not as high. I think the judges give them props for not shying away from the smaller events and their programs by doing so feel more like worn shoes and they are more able to go on autopilot when it really counts.

I'm just going to focus on the fact that Ye is getting his passport soon and just... forget basically the rest, I'm annoying when I have some wits with me and I'm losing all my marbles here. I'd like to say that I'll prioritize my mental health for once and decide to not watch figure skating but (deep sigh) in all likelihood I'll see you folks next week

I had Lilah and Lewis winning the first week because I didn't think C/B would be ready... but I didn't expect for P/P to fall like this at all!

I looked at next week, and I'm debating whether or not I should do something crazy and put Smart and Dieck in first next week...

On a positive note at least all these falls happened before GPF and the top teams can polish before the final - nobody is safe.

I'm happy to see T/V get the bronze and I like that they are trying new genres and getting rewarded.

Also pleased to hear Mark champion the skating skills of the Taschlers.

Not a good event for USA in finland

Looks like some were willing to grant them a "fall not on an element card"

Looking at protocols

Piper and Paul got a ! on their choreo assisted jump which means "element not meeting all the requirements" and GOE was lowered. They lost quite a lot of points there. Not sure why and how different it was from Skate Canada.

Piper and Paul didn't get any of their components scores (final totals) into the 9s. That's the way it should be with a major mistake... We have seen otherwise at other events for other teams not needed to be named.. (this is not against the teams who get forgiven for their mistakes but against the panels who have forgiven some teams in the past)

I am trying to find things to say :) which is usually not that hard for me LOL... but no.. I am empty.

I will say one thing : there is a slight possibility that the highest ranked qualifiers at GPF end up in 6th place when other teams finally stop making mistakes ;)
You are right. Fear and Gibson are slick and sassy and I will add steady. But the GPF will be the test of the top 6 in one arena with one set of judges. I think the differences will be too much for them to make the podium.

I agree. Consistency and accountability.

Qualified for GPF. Only 2 teams with 13 points from their first event can qualify next week. G/F, LaLa, CPom. The winners will earn 28 points total and the tie breaker will be with the scores for 3rd place versus Piper and Paul.
The second place finishers, will end up with 26 points, and finish under Lopareva and Brissaud due to their first place in France.

Emilea is happy about her crown. Has seen those on others and has wanted one too and "now I finally got mine and will definetly take it home with me."

Juho and Yuka love their hats.

I am just afraid that CPom will get the nod ahead of LaLa next week.
