2024 Bosphorus Cup | Nov 25 - Dec 1

I'm running way behind, because I decided to have my breakfast and get ready for the day when I reached the resurfacing.

But, I just had to comment on some lovely moments that I saw in Group 3.

After Gökçe Doğa SEZGI (TUR) finished her programme and did her bows, she went and had a massive hug with the next skater who was coming on, Elif UĞURAL (TUR).

And as soon as Gökçe Doğa's score was announced, her coach climbed over her and ran away to see Elif off.

And then when Elif was finished her programme, she had a massive hug with the next skater who was coming on, Ipek KARA (TUR)

And as soon as Elif 's score was announced, her coach climbed over her and ran away to see Ipek off.

No prizes for working out that they are all team-mates. From the İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi Spor Kulübü.

In terms of the Free Skate standings, the order was reversed from the Short Programme. In the overall standings, each of them went into 4th position, meaning they will finish in the same order as they did in the SP.

So, as it stands, the three team-mates from İzmir are still line astern!

But look how close it is! All three of them are covered by just 0.50 points! :jaw: (It had been 1.39 points after the SP).

Mmmm. That's the danger of muting the audio during the Warm-Up to try to avert music copyright claims. They forgot to un-mute it when the programmes started. As a result, we didn't hear the music for skater #22 Simona KONDOVA (BUL)

She'll be upset, because this is her first competition since she turned 14. It was her birthday last week

Mind you, she looked upset enough with the skate she had. And even more when her scores came up.

She went into 5th position in the FS, and 2nd position overall.

The audio didn't actually come back until the last second of skater #25 Ada Era SERT (TUR)'s programme.

Awwww. She gave a massive hug to the next skater on after her, #26 Roza ŞİMŞEK (TUR). And they both went over to the boards together to talk to the coaches. And then Ada Era went off to the resutls area with one of the coaches.

Interestingly, according to Rink Results, they don't actually belong to the same club. That said, both clubs are in Istanbul. So, I suspect that there probably is some sort of connection. (Maybe the skaters used to belong to the same club; or both clubs use the same rink; or one club is an off-shoot of the other. I don't know).

Ada Era went into 1st in the FS, and the lead overall.

Then Roza went into 3rd in the FS, and the lead overall.

In the FS, Ada Era is ahead of Roza by 0.78 points. Overall, Roza is ahead of Ada Era by 0.11 points! :drama:

Close friends!

Yay! I'm caught up now!

OK, so I skipped the Group 5 Warm-Up when I saw that the first skater was waiting to be introduced. But I didn't miss any programmes.

The last skater in Group 5, Skater #37, was TINY! 😲

Awwww. And when she was waiting for her results, Skater #35 came in and joined her and their male coach. They got their photo taken, and then the male coach went away and a female coach sat with them and got their photo taken.

They both belong to the Phoenix Figure Skating Club. And are currently 1-2 in both the FS and overall.

And they were both really happy for each other when the scores were announced.

In the FS, Skater #35 is 0.11 points ahead of Skater #37. Overall, Skater #37 is 0.75 points ahead of Skater #35.

More close friends!

We have just had the final two Turkish girls. And the first of them, Skater #42, is even tinier than Skater #37! :jaw:

The irony is that she is actually older than both Skater #35 and Skater #37. Both of whom came and joined Skater #42 for her getting her results.

Yes, all three of them belong to the same club.

Skater #42 went into a massive lead of both the FS (9.39 points) and overall (15.55 points).

The final Turkish girl, Skater #43, actually scored exactly the same for her FS as Skater #42! :jaw: So, she maintained her 1.38 point advantage from the SP.

After the girls marathon, the boys are starting now.

CaroLiza_fan

Right, that's it for the Advanced Novices.

I'm not sure what time the Juniors will be starting at. They are supposed to be starting at the top of the hour (i.e. 5 minutes from now). But, there was also supposed to be a dinner break before that.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Junior girls on the ice for their 7h 30m marathon!

As I suspected, the dinner break has been scrapped. Mind you, we are still running 15 minutes behind schedule.

I don't think I will make it to the end. But, I'll stay as long as I can.

Mmmmm. Music issues for Teodora Maria GHEORGHE (ROU).

The music they started playing a couple of times sounded suspiciously like "Grande Amore" by Il Volo. But according to her ISU Bio, she is supposed to be skating to "Muhtar" and "Arabia", both by Hazem Tarek and Hanine El Alam.

She was over with the officials for a long time talking, and during that time a different piece of music started playing. Eventually, she was able to head off and warm up again. After a while, some music started playing. And it was the right music, so she started getting ready for her programme.

It was worth the wait. I enjoyed that programme. But, I do tend to like programmes to Middle Eastern music.

Are they having problems with the scoring now?! It's taking a very long time.

She had time to take her skates off, send her coach to get her shoes, and put said shoes on.

She goes into 7th in the FS and 4th overall.

Same problem as yesterday - everybody in this group has dark hair. So, I had to be careful. But, because I now know that Vayana has grown her hair out since last season, it made her easy to spot amongst the other girls.

Vayana went past the camera warly on in the Warm-Up, and went down to her favourite spot and did a lovely jump.

Then, with about a minute and a half to go, she went to her usual area again and did another lovely jump.

In the last minute, she started practicing spins in the centre of the rink. Then she came over towards the camera, and then straight across the ice, presummably to get ready to leave.

She doesn't have long to wait. Just one skater between now and her programme.

Right, here's hoping that my first kid of the day can show us what made me want to adopt her in the first place.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST VAYANA!!! :cheer:

Beautiful deep red dress.

Can't really judge this music because of the echos. I'll have to reserve judgement until I hear it in an arena with better accoustics.

Fall on first jump.

And second.

The sequence of jumps went better,

OK, she had a stomp on the music.

Missed the next jump because the picture froze as she took off.

But the next spin was good.

And so was the combination spin.

Lovely combination jump.

The Sit Spin was good, but personally I don't like the way she slides out of it.

Next jump good too.

What's she doing rolling about on the ice for?!

Not sure if that was a slide or a fall at the very end.

Honestly, I know it's her first season in Juniors, but I think searching for a Pairs partner has been too much of a distraction. The quality of her Singles skating is suffering.

She can do better than this.

She goes into 6th in the FS, and 4th overall.

:cheer: WELL DONE VAYANA!!! :cheer:
