Actually they scored better in their 2nd GP event this year then they did in their 2nd one last year. 207+ to 201+. So they were on an upward swing.

I like them and currently my fave team but I don't feel the judges like them that much I note they never ge close to 80 which one might expect of a top team in the short. No one mind you has dominated. The Japanese team should be killing it but they aren't. Truly Russia is missed in this discipline. But it is exciting I guess that anyone of the top 5 or 6 could podium.

Ranking is meaningless until March. They certainly were not ranked first last year and they won. With pairs, they all pretty much have the same base value, it's about landing things

In terms of season's best score (which is what is being referred to)? They were definitely in first going into the GPF and also going into Worlds. Only two teams outscored Deanna and Max's 214.64 from GP Canada last season - Deanna and Max themselves and Miura/Kihara, both at Worlds.

Doesn't change my main point anyway. They were not exactly favourites as they had finished 3rd at GPF...and people cannot have it both ways, call skate Canada scores generous with them last year and say they were not really faves because of home inflation and then use that against them for this year

I loved the Oxygène short but I doubt it would be as effective in Boston...
I don't think they will change programs at this point.
Max was so ill he couldn't even lift Deanna. In the recent interviews (linked to her citizenship oath) he said that they are not yet training full force but it should be soon, like maybe in a week. So with all this time lost, I cannot imagine them changing programs ahead of Canadian Nationals.
