2024-25 Junior Grand Prix Final Men's Free Skate

Ach, Rio has so much talent, and his program had a 20-second sequence of me getting frustrated at him for being so visibly disappointed in the program with the mistake on the first axel and then being so proud of him for pulling in on all the parts of the next axel combo. He's a skater who I think the age change rules will be really good for - he's the type who wants to move up to seniors right away but needs these experiences in juniors so he can learn how to keep his head in a program. I know he will be disappointed right now, but I really do think this will be a valuable experience for him moving forward, and I really mean that. And I'm glad to hear that his father agrees with me, that's the mark of a good coach.

The back and forth between some of the most beautiful jumps ever and pops in this program has to be among the most junior of all junior performances ever. Rio just destroyed my predictions. I do think he is the one skater here though that will almost certainly be successful when he transitions to Seniors as long as he can learn to control his nerves. He has all the talent.
