Really shocked to wake up to the news that Liam Payne has died at the age of just 31. Too young!
I admit that I wasn't a big fan of One Direction. But I was a fan of Liam. Right back to when he appeared on the 2008 series of "The X Factor".
Although I was all in favour of separating the "Unders" category into "Boys" and "Girls" categories in 2007 (hey, I was annoyed that they didn't do it for the "Overs" category too!), I did not approve of lowering the minimum age from 16 to 14. But then Liam Payne turned up as a 14 year old in the 2008 series. I thought he was great! And I was annoyed when he was put out not once but twice! He was put out at Bootcamp, then brought back for Judges Houses, and then put out again.
So, I was delighted when he returned in 2010. And he was great again. But he was then put out at Bootcamp again. And brought back at Judges Houses again, this time as part of a put together group. Although it meant he was back in the competition, I didn't agree with that, because he was the only one of the group that I thought was any good. And I felt that being in a group would kill off his chances of a career in music.
How wrong was I?!
So, as my tribute, I'm taking it back to where it all began. His "X Factor" auditions from both 2008 and 2010:
Liam Payne - "Fly Me To The Moon"
Liam Payne - "Cry Me A River"
My thoughts go out to his family, friends and fans.
