The OST to the game Ghost of Tsushima

I've been reading that studies have shown that video game music, when properly done, helps you focus and concentrate on any task at hand (which makes sense, since it is designed specifically to co just this for the game in question). So maybe it would be a good thing for skaters to use it!

Reminds me of music from Blue-Eye Samurai..

Batch’s Toccata and Fugue
Flute in 9th century Swiss church..

Loved that! Another piece used in Disney's Fantasia, and one my husband often played in organ recitals and on the few CDs he made. Never heard it as a flute solo, but perfect in that setting and with its acoustics.

It does sound thin when you're used to hearing it rolling sonorously from a double-banked pipe organ , but I thought it probably sounded closer to the kind of instruments heard in that church in the 9th century so that was interesting. I passed the link on to one of my grandkids who was advised to take up the flute or clarinet as therapy when she developed mild asthma. She's impressed; her mother said in reply that it would be a long time before Josie sounds like that! "Right now, she's one step above a Flutophone as played by a kindergarten class."

At least, thank you, it got rid of an ear-worm I've had for days, after sharing the ice with a kid practising for an artistic program test (is there such a thing?). Beauty School Dropout, from Grease. I made the mistake of asking her coach the intention of an odd gesture she was making to the line "Wipe off that Angel Face and go back to high school". Turned out they didn't realize Angel Face was capitalized and was the name of a kind of foundation makeup. They'd thought it was "wipe off that angel face" as if she'd been learning a beautician's flattering of a client and should stop being fake. So then they had to revamp that bit and I had to try to ignore the song several more times until it was stuck in my head. :bang:

Ever wondered what would happen if Hans Zimmer took on Mozart?

Here he is playing lead guitar in his own interpretation of the Austrian national anthem at today's Formula 1 Grand Prix in Spielberg:

Hans Zimmer - "Land Der Berge, Land Am Strome"

Have to admit, I never knew he played any instruments himself.

Martin Brundle talked to him briefly a few minutes before the performance, and Zimmer said something along the lines of "Prepare to hear me ruin Mozart!"

Well, it was definitely different to the version we are used to hearing (and different to what we normally think of when we think of Hans Zimmer music). But I wouldn't say he ruined it. It was a load of fun!

Ever since Madison Shock and Evan Bates' wedding I have been listening to Hawaiian music. :)

Here is a hula interpration. The captions explain the hatraditional hand gestures, they are not an actual translation of the lyrics.

Apologies that I didn't get a chance to write a post last night. I was up to my eyes posting the new Fan Fest posts that I promised a month or so ago. (Although it took a lot longer than I expected to get them all pasted in, I still managed to get them up on the 14th July like I planned).

Yesterday, I had a song stuck in my head all day.

Sylvia Vrethammar - "Y Viva España"

Funnily enough, on another Sunday last August, I posted in this thread about having the exact same song stuck in my head.

I wonder if there could be a connection... 🤔

In all seriousness, that is some coincidence, the same two countries playing in the final of the Women's World Cup one year, and the Men's European Championships the following year. And the same country coming out as winner.

And all I can say is thank goodness for that! The Spaniards have again saved us from the prospect of the media going on and on and on for the next 60 years about England winning.

It really is unbearable the way they go on. It really alienates those of us that are neither football fans nor English. Especially when they don't do it for other sports or the other nations.

Was filmed in an ex train station Estacion mapocho (closed as train station in 1987) now is national monument and cultural center.
Thank you for satisfying my curiosity. It was obviously a very large former industrial building of some sort, but I didn't think of train stations. (And I enjoyed hearing the song as well, by the way :))

As additional detail, the steel structure was built in Belgium but was assembled in Chile, in fact you see in the video the concourse and the big windows of the ticket booth. And the design is neo classical.

I have lately turned an interest into 70s music. So I have listened to all the top 40 songs featured on the UK singles list chart, as the UK was the main contributor to the music scene back then. 2856 songs, lots of gems that you never hear anymore.

@elektra blue - you might like this. I've seen people comparing her to Lana del Rey.

Freya Beer - "Tatianna"

Heard this song for the first time a few weeks ago on the BBC Radio Ulster show presented by Michael Bradley (bassist with the Undertones), but decided to wait until now to post it. Why? Because I do believe that today is the singer's birthday!

:cheer: HAPPY 25th BIRTHDAY FREYA!!! :cheer:

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

I hope she is having an enjoyable day, and that the coming year is a good one for her.

By the way, when I saw the tattoo on her right lower arm, I instantly thought that it was a poorly drawn representation of the curent layout of the Monza circuit (which, apart from 1980, has hosted every Italian Grand Prix since 1949):

But then I moved my head to a different angle, and realised that it is actually the outline of one of the versions of the Batman logo! :palmf:

(Sorry, I can't find the exact same version, so you can use the above image to choose for yourself which one you think is nearest!)

Anyway, Happy Birthday Freya!

The soundtrack of "The Hate U Give" because I just watched that movie. So good, but certainly something you can't watch just for fun...
