awww he's so happy!!!! and his dad is too!

Yuma becomes National Champion in his seventh appearance at Nationals, becoming the second-ever father-son duo to win the championship (his father is a 3x champion). A few little bobbles but this was one of the strongest free skates of the season from Yuma - that 4F was gorgeous!

Yuma basically podiumed after his first four elements as he was at 60 TES.

Clear winner!! He has no competition in Japan. He is so far ahead from the rest of his compatriots.

I wonder if this will score 200+ in just the free skate alone. I predict 190+

HUGE 4F to start, and the 4S consistency is restored. Yuma is ready to aim for the world gold !

This was a worse-case scenario competition. JFed has very specific criteria for Worlds and they’re going to stick to them too. I know who’s not going to Worlds. Tsuboi is bronze medalist, but he didn’t meet any of the other criteria, but I think he goes by virtue of everyone else bombing. Because he had the fourth highest world standing, Tomono was an asterisk choice but he didn’t make the podium and didn’t meet any of the other criteria. And the margin between him and Sato is small.

I think the team will be Kagiyama, Tsuboi, Sato.
