2024 Japanese Nationals - Women's FS

Do we know where the world/4cc teams will be announced?
For senior worlds Kaori, Mone, Wakaba seem to be pretty clear choice - all three were very solid on GP and nats.
4CC - maybe completely different three? I think Mako deserves to be sent. Rino of course. The third one: Rinka/Rion/Hana?
JR worlds - Mao and Kaoruko for sure. I wonder if they will send Ami or Ikura? O love Ikura but I would go with Ami - she was much stronger on international comps and international judges seem to score her much higher. Ikura went last year, so I think Ami deserves a chance this time.

Should be tonight, the thread for discussion is here:

I would to see the dream-team for the Worlds ie. Kaori, Mao and Mone

Do you mean for this season or for upcoming seasons?
Mao is not senior eligible until the 26/27 season after the olympics. If she keeps skating like this (and keeps healthy!) she will definitely make it to senior worlds that season 😊

hoping @figureskatingandrainbows shows bc I'm not doing pbps for this event (not that anyone in this thread really needs it)
I slept through my alarm. I do not know what happened. I'm currently adding my alarm company to my lawsuit against my body (for falling asleep) and JSF (for making me watch that hot mess of a men's event).

That scoring, I can't take domestic Japanese domestic competitions seriously.

It's like only Sakamoto exists. Watanabe doesn't get help domestically she seems underscored as it is in international competition, then domestically she gets less than that. Attempted much more difficult content than Sakamoto too.

76 PCS is extraordinary in a skate with a BV of 57.

It looks as though Nakai landed one 3A clean on the q in another, BV 11 points more than Sakamoto, but getting PCS of 57. She gets much more than that from notoriously stingy JGP judges. Hey, it could have been a really bad skate I guess

I didn't follow live and now I'm catching up with the news...
I'm a bit negatively surprised to see Mone off podium. Otherwise, the top 4 are pretty much as expected. I don't know if I like it or not, maybe deep inside I was hoping for a positive surprise even given that I couldn't see anyone who could deliver that surprise

So sad for Yuna Aoki. It's kind of bittersweet because she's been having a memorable season thus far, certainly much better than she might expect or anyone might expect from her. She can proudly say that she's retiring on a high note. But still, if the high note sounds like "I want to retire before I hate skating"... It's painful.

Rino is running strong and her season is not over yet. That's good news.
I'm happy to see Mako in the top 6. This skater deserves to be better known internationally. I wonder what are her chances to get a GP assignment next year?

I'm guessing that Rinka and Rion are going to GPs next season, also Hana. These news are neither very good nor very bad. The impression I got of these girls is that they will keep fighting and then... We'll see.

The juniors who are not Mao are about where juniors should be. That's also neither good nor bad. That's normal. But I admit that I felt a pinch of satisfaction when I found Ikura Kushida on top of the pack!

Mana Kawabe ended up out of the top 10, even further away than before. It would be sad if she'd lose her motivation.

Anyone else?... Right, Saki Miyake, not the dreamiest result possible but I guess her motivation will only grow based on it. To reach the top 10 in Women category in Japanese Nationals... Wow!

You don't think Higuchi on the podium is a positive surprise? And the possibility of her incorporating the 3A next season can be huge building off of this season. Plus this is Mone's first exposure to big pressure and high expectations together, so the fact that she was tight isn't that surprising. I thought it was a very well skated and satisfying event overall.

After her performance in the GP final, it's not surprising at all. Positive - yes, a surprise - no.
I agee her performance wasn't surprising, it was the fact she beat out Mone for the podium when the JSF seemed clearly to be behind Mone that was the pleasant surprise. As Sakamoto's scoring shows, Fed support can be tough to overcome.

I never liked the Jr.'s competing at Sr. Nationals. They are not eligible for Sr. Worlds and in Mone's case today it cost her a place on the podium.
Yes she came in fourth and is on the World team but I suspect she would have liked to be on the podium.

It has been this way forever and I really don't want to open up a can of worms as all the federations
allow it. This is just my own personal feelings on the subject.

I enjoy so much Ikura Kushida skating !
I hope that she continue to improve her consistency in her jump because her artistry is really captivating to watch :)

I agree, especially with women where being younger can be a huge advantage.

I've just finished watching all four. Thank you again. No technical problems I could see. What a magnificent event this women's free skate was. Every year I watch the the women's event in particular I'm stunned at the depth of talent in Japanese figure skating. If we see a World Championship free skate of this stanard we'll be fortunate indeed.

Blessings to you....Just got back from an 11 day Mexican cruise. I have had 2 hours of sleep in 30 hours due to broken planes, etc. But your vids are beautiful to me. May the Gods shine on you. My door marker of my stateroom.

(Me walking the deck late at night thinking of my wife, all that wonderful Asian food I ate at the Tamarind, and your vids!)

これからコーチとも話し合いをして、最終的な決断をしたいと思っています。
お騒がせして申し訳ありませんが、もう少し落ち着いてから今後のことについてはお話しさせていただきます。

However, the article is somewhat ahead of its time and I am a little impatient myself 💦 I am going to discuss this with my coach and make a final decision. I apologize for the disturbance, but I will discuss the future with you after things have settled down a bit more.

Ahahaha, I'm glad. I think she probably was super emotional after her FS so it's cool that she wants to settle down first before making a final decision. I personally panicked yesterday on the news, thank you for the update!
