Mikhail Shaidorov | Page 7 | Golden Skate

Mikhail Shaidorov

Honestly, if I were one of those passengers on the plane, I would have been like "WTH?!" I hope Kazakhstan Skating Federation is paying for those 2 extra seats.
I would imagine that word would have got around pretty quickly on the plane about who he was and what he had just been doing.

It is nice to see the fun side of his character. He is still quite young and is kind of a big kid. It is good that he doesn't have to be serious and grown up all the time.

I believe this page should be rivivaled a little bit more;), Mikhail is such an incredible skater, one of the few with the greatest skating qualities and deserves many more fans, so I'm posting something about Mikhail's last event in which he amazingly performed.
The event he partecipated was BOL On Ice 2025 and was held in Bologna, Italy, January 5th. Lots of people there loved him and had the opportunity to watch his new gala show on the music of Kayne West "Use this Gospel". Such amazing performances!
An Italian newspaper says Mikhail has an innate talent and he's a new shining and rising Kazakh star, one of the few athletes able to compete with Ilia Malinin for the quad jumps. A nice compliment for Mikhail, one that demonstrate once again he's really shining among the top skaters:love:
Here you will find some short video and the newspaper (in Italian):
The show will be released on Italian TV on January 12th (https://guidatv.quotidiano.net/bol-on-ice-2025/12-01-2025/tv8/20316847/). Maybe there will be soon also other sources to watch his performances!
And he enjoyed a lot this show with the other guests as well!

He's so good in interpretation playing his roles besides his powerful skating skills, he already played a number of different kind of roles and this means so much, because it's not easy to be so eclectic in skating. There's a great star in Kazakhstan whose light shines all over the world...😍

I'm quite happy for him to stay under the radar for the moment and continue to develop without huge pressure being placed on him. He's still quite young. I think he has huge potential, but I don't want him to crack under unreasonable pressure and end up underachieving.

I'm pretty sure he will be on the podium at the 4CC, yes I hope like you he doesn't mess up, but I think he's achieveing a certain indipendence towards the pressure given by his competitors. He tried directly the 3A-4T in an ISU competition for the first time, and he did it successfully, and then he did 3A-4S always for the first time, in an international competition, an got it right. This means very much: I mean at the first time, in an ISU competition, do two different combos for the first time, it requires a superb management of emotions, control, pressure, demostrating to have a winning mind. To control the emotions is often the key of success, and I believe Mikhail is already on this direction. And he's still so young, just imagine what a strong will it need to have been reached all these things yet:biggrin:

I agree - I have always found him underrated *especially* with interpretation - Mark for sure mentions a ton how much he has worked on components and how good his extension, etc, is, but it hasn't quite translated to his marks or reputation yet. He is the one skater I feel has such an effortless quad technique that he isn't at his limit with the amount he is already doing. While I would love to see him on the podium at worlds, I would love it even more for him to have a really solid rest of the season and get on the podium in Milan. I don't think he's done making history by a long shot.

You're absolutely right!!:cheer2:
There's kind of underestimation for his components, but if we take a close eye we'll find out something different. Just look at his detailed choreographies: the gestures, the movement, the expression. It's Art! And the way he performes this art, it's a masterpiece if we think of how he do everything effortless.
His coaches, Righini and his stuff, told about he has to increase his levels, but it means they are confident to see a big future in Mikhail.
You said a very good note, about his effortless quad jumps and the natural way he do them. I notice the same thing: he is the one who has the most effortless quad jumps. He is so natural with quads! Think of the hundred times he repetedly jumped that tremendous combos session after session. He's a master of strong will.
And yes, his potential is just at its beginning!!
Can't wait to see him in Milano:love2:

and he got little to no recognition for it, it still makes me mad

Yeah.... No recognition at all... Scores given lately don't respect the reality of the effort and the difficulty it takes to perform such elements. It's like Ilia's 4Axel, scores for that jump are low considering what it takes to jump the "impossible" jump.
And it's like Mikhail's record's news seem to be lasted for just two or three days and then almost went in silence. Like "wow, a nice combination, yeah it was quite good" and then quiet and nothing more. :scratch2:
