Mikhail Shaidorov

I felt they really hammered him by giving him a negative GOE on the 3A-EU-4S (it should have been positive). I wonder if we will see a program this year with both a +4T and also a +EU+4S? Maybe he includes a 4Lz+4T or 4T+4T? I notice he stops rotating early on his 4Lz+3T combo so maybe he's already trained it? does anyone know?

Good observation, yes I notice too that there's kind of closing earlier the jump combination, like if he could jump another quad after the first one of the combo. I don't know if he's already training a 4-4 combo jump, but we have our "clues" to believe so.
I truly believe that now Shaidorov is the most interesting skater, with all the great impact, progress and innovation he's doing in figure skating. And I like very much his attitude, also when he refers to not considering points as the main goal he has in mind to reach. So, I believe we're going to see something special this year again, and in the very near future!:) We should keep our eyes on him much more often because he has a unique and extraordinary talent (consider also that he seriously started to skate with Urmanov only when he was just 11 or 12 and he achieved so much in one of the shortest time for an elite skater) and I'm convinced he's going to give us other beautiful surprises!

Yeah.... No recognition at all... Scores given lately don't respect the reality of the effort and the difficulty it takes to perform such elements. It's like Ilia's 4Axel, scores for that jump are low considering what it takes to jump the "impossible" jump.
And it's like Mikhail's record's news seem to be lasted for just two or three days and then almost went in silence. Like "wow, a nice combination, yeah it was quite good" and then quiet and nothing more. :scratch2:
and don't forget all the "but that was a jumping drill"!

Yeah! You're right!!
There's a level in Mikhail that I don't believe at all that it's easy to reach by most of the skaters (!), so begin criticism and low appreciation for a hard mature work like his. So, there's always a little bit of jelousy I guess;) But reality shows what the truth is.
I don't know how can it be possible to doubt the hardness of the work he's doing. I'd like to recall what he's been through reporting here a part of this article, where it explains a bit of his journey to get the 3A-4T combination: https://olympics.com/en/news/figure-skating-mikhail-shaidorov-kazakhstan-panda-interview

"With [Shoma] Uno's attempts as proof that the feat can be done, Shaidorov headed to the ice rink on a single mission to land the triple-quad combo. His usual training cast to the side, the Kazakh skater would spend session after session only working on that one element.

"I remember these endless training sessions when I just did this combination practically the entire training," Shaidorov recalled. "I hammered and hammered away at it until I got it. This probably took me from 2021 to now. There were so many training sessions when I just kept hitting that one spot. Only the combo, only the combo. And now here I am."

Just by thinking only about this, he would deserve much more attention;)

By the way, after successfully landing 3A-4T combo, he was already thinking to make history again with an other "crazy combination" (https://www.goldenskate.com/adam-siao-him-fa-rebounds-in-france-for-third-consecutive-title/) leaving it as a secret until the GPF when he landed 3A-4S. So we should expect great upcomings and surprises very soon!
I like how he jokely stimolated our curiosity by just hinting about the "surprise" he did later, a very big surprise by the way by giving us a 3A-4S for the first time, after the first 3A-4T combo!
Tomorrow at the "Turin Universiadi" event he will start his practice. Hope for him the best at this important event!!

congrats to Mikhail for getting 4th place at University Games, despite pain! I hope he gets a chance to recover and have a great rest of season!

also cool tidbit to learn he's studying to be a coach apparently? does anyone know if he teaches at any summer camps anywhere?

And his Free program:

We're waiting for his Gala exhibition tonight:love:

Surprising news!! Mikhail is also a very talented choreographer:love: he has choreographed his own Exhibition gala on the notes of "Use this Gospel", an amazing proof of the great artistic skills he has developed so far! He's been great in building up the choreo with the words and the music!
He has changed a little the begin of this program compared to his first exhibition in the BOL on Ice event... You will see!

Thanks for posting, really cool program, I love it! I had no idea he was doing some of his own choreography, that's fantastic!!

Looks like this is also one of his many "surprises" he' giving us this season!! He never stops to amaze me!

I think he's a skater who's enormously growing in short time but with making no "noise" around him, accomplishing great things and big goals breaking all of a sudden surrounding silence as a proof of his abilities, contrary to what many continue to say about him (lack of technique, lack of artistic quality, skills and so on...). Doing so, he leaves all of us looking open-mouthed, stunned, and the effective surprise is even greater!!:) I always thought, he has a winning mind, evident now also in how he gives us his breakthroughs and in how he manages his skating career!
Nonsense criticizers should take a closer sight. They will change their mind!!

Today has been published a long interview of Mikhail, where he speaks about his skating past experiences, his present, things he has in mind to do, including the wish of participating at the Olympics. Here's the link (the interview is in Kazakh):

I always love to read his interviews! He likes to tell to us fans many things. He's a nice and expansive guy! And he also tells us he likes to horse riding:love:. It's so nice we're knowing Misha more and more!

Mikhail participated at the Asian Winter Games 2025 held at Harbin, China (11-13 February 2025), and got a beautiful bronze medal!

He fought both in the short and in the free programs, showing what a strong character he has. At the short, held on February 11, he placed fourth with 76.75 total score. Then at the free skate, despite two mistakes, he gained 246.01 points overall reaching the podium with Kagiyama and with Cha as the winner.
He really did a great job managing difficulties and great pressure, surrounded by many enthusiastic fans present at his programs.
And at the free skate we can see the new costume Misha has choosen: elegance and class are always two of Misha's distintive marks.

i watched him live. there were bad things and good things. the bad is that he still looks like he's recovering from his injury and he should skate to a watered down program, but we know russians don't play it safe (i'm looking at you, mr. Urmanov), the good is that he's really working on his presentation and performance ability. now finger crossed for next week

Oh no, I hope he gets some chance to take it easy until next week... maybe? I hope he is healthy coming out of 4CCs, he seems to have had an intense schedule on top of injury and sickness :(
