Looks flat to me. Would it be so bad to have a flat edge on flip?

Good point! It was originally meant to be a combination so that perhaps there would not be intricate footwork going into that.
Mirai's combination was meant to be on the lutz, but her lutz landing was off-balance so she couldn't add the toe loop; she then added the 2T to the flip. She had no footwork going into the lutz, so she had to take a deduction for that.

especially in this clip, it is a very obvious lip, IMHO.
I agree her lutz has a deeper outside edge and that the edge on her flip is not so obvious in real time, but still, this is a lip.
It is not her fault the judges don't give her an "e" but if they did (or at least a "!" if they can't really tell) I'm sure she could fix it easily and then her jumps would really be textbook.
Well, never mind, good luck to her in the FS. I think she herself said her LP should be even better than the SP, so I'm looking forward.
But so many mess up altogether when they try to compensate for earlier mistakes. Then they end up either doing an extra illegal element or just lose focus altogether.Still good on Mirai for making her combo elsewhere. It drives me nuts when skaters aren't smart enough to do that.

Yuna's flip is perfect.
You don't believe Arakawa, Miki, Paul Wylie, Susie Wynne, Tracy Wilson and even Dick Button...
Actually it's very frustrating to see a young talented skater unfairly dishonored by malicious deceit.
Please remember we are here to love and acknowledge young athletes, not to dishonor skaters based on fabrication.
This is not really relevant, but I hope people who have written down Caroline after Nationsl and JW reassess her. It will become more clear after Skate Canada, but she is the best US lady on international stage.

It is interesting that both last year and this year, SA is setting the standard for strict tech calling. Remember how we were all a little shell shocked (and the skaters too) when at SA everyone was downgraded and had edge calls? It was a little bitter looser at SC, and then steadily got easier as the season progressed, until at the end everyone was getting SB, PB?I mean, I know everyone improves over the course of the season, but really, this inconsistency in tech calling is really unfair. It sucks to be skate early on the GP circuit.

I can't believe neither of Kimmie's triples were downgraded. They were both majorly apparent. The judges ignored her obvious cheats and yet dinged Flatt and Ando for 3 loops that anyone with a shred of decency would have allowed. This is the story of Meissner's life, credit for cheated triples!
