What are your favorite figure-skating podcasts, youtube channels, and blogs?

The off-season can be quite boring for most figure skating fans, with little to no news regarding our much-beloved sport, forcing most of us to rewatch old competitions and kill time doing something else. So I thought it would be a great idea to share our favorite figure skating podcasts, YouTube channels, and blogs, so we can all still get our daily fix of fs during the off-season!

I'll start with a few of my favorite podcasts:

The Iron Butterfly
The Cutting Edge: A Figure Skating podcast

As for YouTube channels and blogs, I would love to get some recommendations!

Agreed, the trio of NOC Sarah, Adam, and Ashley is legendary at this point. With Ashley having not much of an idea about what's going on half of the time, Sarah being a sort of fact-checker to correct the other two and Adam being a perfect mix of both. They've been friends for a very long time and it shows in the way they interact

The Runthrough leans more into the entertaining side of figure skating (if you get what I mean), without much technical analysis of the programs. But in the end that's what makes this podcast special, because no one wants to hear someone rant about how a skater's flutz is ruining the program for 40 minutes straight.

But I adore The Runthrough! It is amazing. I miss Flutzes and Waxels so much and sometimes listen to their old episodes still. Scoreography are wonderfully informative and seem to have professional sound systems! I also appreciate how incredibly kind they’ve been in their interactions with me when talking about the woes of making videos while trying to keep track of a million names. The Cutting Edge and Blades of Our Lives are also great! I have an unpopular opinion that I do like the Skating Lesson and I think he’s actually gotten better about not going off on tangents about randomness.

Paola La has a major cult following and she seems sweet… but I don’t think she really follows the competitions or skating news that she covers. She confidentially said Ilia lost points at one competition for doing an illegal backflip lol.

Have to agree about Paola, she seems to be a very sweet person but it's obvious that her busy schedule has kept her from watching any fs for a considerable amount of time. Her recent video from 5 days ago is an example of this

I LOVE Scoreography! I like their analysis a lot, and they don't get side tracked with tangential conversations. They have a great professional audio set up, and their voices are also pleasant to listen to.

I am so grateful that Peacock broadcasts almost all the ISU skating competition (and I don't have to listen to Tara and Johnny -- now, if only they'd get rid of Gracie Gold; let Ben Agosto explain everything). Re podcasts, I'm not a huge fan; have to SEE the action.

I like Scoreography, The Cutting Edge Pod, Kelly Commentates, These Are The Blades of Our Lives (always fun), The Run-through, Figure Skating Land and most of the time, The Skating Lesson (the last episode I listened to was almost insufferable — occasionally I find it hard to get through, but on the whole I enjoy it). Ice Skating International Online has good recaps.

I miss The Blade Boys and Fran (from Italy). Wish there was a Canadian one out there, as most of the above are American based (and it does show).

I really enjoy The Cutting Edge. It seems the closest to Flutzs & Waxels because she does a different episode for each discipline. I also appreciate that Kim loves pairs, as do I. I like her analyses as well.

Love the Runthrough. Sometimes they make me laugh till I cry. Their reminiscing about their experiences at Cup of China is a good example.

Scoreograhy is good too. And I confess that I’ve rarely missed an episode of The Skating Lesson since Jenny started it even though Dave often annoys me with his biases which are very different from mine.

The Runthrough is a podcast hosted by Adam Rippon, Ashley Wagner and Sarah hughes (not olympic champion). The former 2 are retired figure skaters and Sarah works in the sports field, just search "The Runthrough" on spotify and you'll find it, hope that helps!

I'm currently listening to Polina Edmunds and Nicole bobek discuss the women's event. I like it. I have some Polina recaps from this season to catch up on!

The Runthrough podcast has begun their LORE series in which they take a deep-dive into the history, rivalries and personalities that make this such an interesting sport to follow. The first episode is almost two hours long and covers the Men's discipline from 1984-2002. I think Adam is a great storyteller and Ashley and Sarah are the perfect audience. I found it very entertaining and am looking forward to having this to listen to throughout the off-season.

Created apparently by a knowledgeable fan with good takes, but this host can tend to be a bit dramatic, perhaps for the entertainment value.

Anything GOES has an international flavor with its various hosts. They can tend to be longwinded and ill-coordinated, but their shows with competing skater guests sharing their opinions are interesting. Anything GOES is currently running voting for their annual skating awards.

The Skating Session is very good. But I have to chuckle, I only recently heard of it, and I wonder if they started up when DL bailed out of TSL when he crashed and burned and flamed out faster than you can say Supernova. Looks like Tony and TVu were right there to immediately take over that niche. Smart guys! The name cracks me up, I have to say!

(This makes me think of an extremely HOT local restaurant in my neighborhood that was basically printing money it was so popular. Then the owners didn't pay their taxes, vendors, etc and the owners split up and now it's closed. I've talked with friends about basically opening it back up with a slightly changed name and taking over where it left off, but I'm retired and don't want to work hard anymore... But it seems like TSS is doing the same thing. lol)
