I found Gracie's commentary to be interesting and informative

I'm surprised there aren't more mentions of Ice Tea - though I will say that they can be a bit sporadic with releasing new episodes, and I think they release to their Patreon subscribers first, so their episodes can be a bit late to hit Spotify, etc. They were the first skating podcast I started listening to regularly - and even when I don't agree with their opinions, I always appreciate their takes (not to mention their very entertaining banter).

This show is unwatchable. Obviously, Carney swept in to try to capture the Skating Lesson demographic. I gave it multiple tries following the WC, and No. Just No.
I'm over the split-screen talking heads who are just fans of the sport giving their opinion. If I'm going to invest the time in a podcast or Youtube show, I want more than I can learn from our OWN expert fans here on GS.
We're much more informed, and our threads skip the prissy faux-authoritarian mandates about what "Kaori really must do about her short program" (for example).
Like Kaori Sakamoto gives two yen for what these asshats have to say.

Oh my gosh. Was it really that bad?!?! I watched it once or twice and haven't been watching too many podcasts lately. Guess I didn't miss much. That makes sense that he was probably trying to grab the Skating Lesson audience.

It's just one man's opinion, but I find it to be a no-value-added experience.
To be fair, I don't find it as toxic as the predecessor. I do miss those episodes of TSL that featured former skaters and coaches. Those provided some real insight, and the hosts behaved themselves in the presence of those who actually knew what they were talking about.

I am going to be the grumpy old so and so (what else is new
) and say that I have never been able to get through an episode of The Runthrough, so I just gave up. I don't find the banter particularly witty and I don't find the "inside" info particularly enlightening.
It is not the format itself. IMO, New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce, from a football perspective, does the banter and the inside info and the analysis really really really well, albeit with a budget probably 50 times that of the Runthrough. It can be done, it's not that I don't enjoy the format in general, it's that I find that the Runthrough does not do it well.

Of the opinion/recap pods that I've listened to, Scoreography is the least objectionable. Anything GOEs often has the types of skater guests I appreciate on their recap episodes, but you have to wade through a lot of the hosts talking before getting to the good stuff, and I usually don't have that much time to invest. I wish they had an "ignore hosts" feature that would edit out their blather and just skip to the guest commentary.

^^^Ha ha. That "ignore hosts" would be great. I try to listen to Anything GOES, but end up getting too frustrated. I think there are too many of them, and with the sound delay, either no one is talking or they're all talking at once. And someone giggles incessantly. They have had some very interesting guests though, and I really enjoyed Kirsten Moore Towers the couple times she has been a guest.

I used to like the Canadian 'That Figure Skating Show' with Dylan Moskovitch and Asher Hill. Not a podcast but a youtube series. I still like it, but since Dylan left (he moved away), it's less regular and that was what I liked too. Now I keep on having to check if there is a new issue, while before there would be one every week (or every 2 weeks, something like that). Yes, of course it focuses for the most part on Canadian Skaters, but also on a lot of others. They're knowledgeable but also very positive.

Yes, KMT was who I had in mind. She provided some excellent insights.
Some time ago, I listened to her commentary at Candian Nationals, and it was terrible, and I dismissed her as someone who had anything interesting to say. She has upped her game vastly.
Kirsten Moore-Towers commentary at Nationals was not bad when she was paired with Ted, but was bad when she was with Kaitlyn Weaver. The two of them together were a lot like the gossipy, giggly podcasts that I usually avoid after a listen or two.

Anna Keller does some interesting, thoughtful interviews on The Future of Figure Skating. This one caught my eye because I was wondering what had happened to the very promising Pooja Kalyan. Here they discuss her training, injuries, current activities, etc.

I tried it, but for me there are few things worse than people who think they are being oh so clever and witty and in fact are failing quite dismally, and these three are prime examples of that. From what I have read online, the "lore" is nothing that anyone who has been following the sport doesn't already know. I don't need old news from people who think they are the funniest and cleverest folks in skating-dom, when, well, not.
My standards aren't that high, really.
You've made me curious about the Runthrough, I'll try one episode. The previous reviews weren't appealing for me, so this'll be my first time listening.
I've listened to people on YT mostly, I do listen to Paola La out of habit, but find myself correcting her during her videos. I like The Skating Session a lot. They also upload a lot of older videos and I love watching skating from the past, both from when I was young and from the time before I began watching skating.
I'm subscribed to Blades and Banter, but hardly watched it so far, so I can't really form an opinion on that one yet.

I really like Scoreography as they have very little gossip and even though I don't always agree with them, it's nice to listen to them and the way the explain their opinion is good, you understand them even at the times when you don't agree with them.
