2025 U.S. Nationals: General Info and pre-game chat

Note there are a lot of small changes in the schedule:

I have been fixing the OPs to respond.
I just looked at the schedule and I just wonder why they could just follow the schedule that done last year where I think on Friday afternoon the men's short program just before the Ladies free. It worked and made sense. I always looked at Saturday as the day for the finals of the partnered disciplines anyway. At the very least could they just run each discipline separately with Free Dance first and then the men's short next please. The men are going to tear up the ice with their attempts to do quads jumps and gauging up the ice the process, so then we are going to expect the first group of dancers to go and navigate around the ruts from the men. Then the final group of men put more ruts down that top group of Ice dancers have to go around. This is not just stupid it's dangerous for the dancers. Just one bad trip from the torn up ice and a couple goes down with maybe a major injury just before a home worlds with Olympics spots on the line. I know certain people are not USFS or NBC favorites but punishing a large number of people is not right. Just fully separate the disciplines please for everyone's safety on the ice.

Does anyone know who Brooke Gewalt's coach is? Or what music she's skating to? I'm trying to get the play-by-play templates ready but I can't seem to find the info anywhere...

On the video, it says that her coaches are Lars Jensen and Amber Gil.

I don't understand the schedule. The women never skate on Thursday. Starr did a Live where she was talking about how weird it was to be done by Friday.

Interesting, because a few quick Google searches and it seems that the women have skated the SP on Thursday going all the way back to at least 2015 (I didn’t look further than that). The only exception in that time was 2018, where they skated on Wednesday.

I don't know her FS though.

Brooke Gewalt (Midwest senior sectionals 5 (substitute))
SP: "A Piece of Sky" by Barbara Streisand

Perhaps she meant they skate the short on Thursday and the free on Saturday v

I apologize in advance if this matter has been addressed somewhere - it doesn't look like there will be a gala for nationals. What am I missing.

I'm not sure about that time. It looks like that may be the NBC broadcast covering Europeans. I saw a listing that shows the gala at 8:00 pm on USA Network on 9 February. https://www.soyouwanttowatchfs.com/blog/2025-us-national-championships-info-amp-streaming
I was going off the guide in my cable box, and I can check it again.

ETA: Looked again, and the cable box still says US Championships, Skating Spectacular 12pm-2pm EST Feb 2nd.

That lists the Feb 2nd date, too, although it says USA Network rather than NBC that the cable box does.

Here is another link from USFA that appears to agree with your cable box: https://www.usfigureskating.org/event/2025-prevagen-us-figure-skating-championships#Watch. It shows something at 11:00 am (Central Time) 2 Feb. on the USA Network. However my cable guide does not show that. I'm in the Pacific Time Zone so maybe the coverage differs across the country?:scratch2:
