Dutch Figure Skating 2024-2025

It pleases me to note that Roos Harkema will be skating in the women's junior discipline at the Edge Cup in Poland this weekend. It's like a little Europeans for juniors, at least as far as I can see. And the adv novice disciplines represented as well. They definitely could use a few more entrees though.
Skate Helena in Belgrade, Serbia, is also taking place (only singles, no pairs or ID) and Jolanda Vos will compete there with the Senior Women, while Summer Wijkhuizen will compete with the Advanced Novice girls.

I see now that it's Saskia Oudejans who is competing at Skate Helena among the Sr Women.
Daria and Michel did not have the SP they wished for at Europeans. Michel is the one usually struggling with the 3S, but this time it was Daria who missed. A good throw landing though. Still not a bad skate, even if I felt their components were scored very low (which I do not agree with, but of course I am biased). They were satisfied themselves, and that is what counts of course! For now they are in 11th place. Good luck tomorrow in the FS!

I just returned home and saw Niki Wories did not have her best day, and even missed the final. She is in 26th, and there she will stay. But, to be fair, 42.26 points really is very low. I am surprised the cut-off point was as low as it is (47.76). well, I am sure she did her best, but it just didn't work out! 
The jumps just didn't go her way today. Poor landing on the 2A. Landing in 3Lz was too far off for adding her normal combo, then she fell on the 3F which meant she couldn't add it there either. It was still an elegant skate for other things, but it wasn't her best.I just returned home and saw Niki Wories did not have her best day, and even missed the final. There was a feature on it on the website of the Skating Federation with a title about losing the battle with herself. In summary: she was well-trained but nothing worked.

Daria and Micheel ended in 10th place, which is a little disappointing after the 8th place last year. They did manage to rise a place (them being 11th after the SP) but their FS also had some mistakes. Let's hope they do better at Worlds, not so much the placement (although that obviously is very important too), but that they can look back on well skated programmes.

Hanna and Alessio ended in 28th place, so there's no FD for them. Alas! But in an article on the Dutch Skating website, they said they enjoyed themselves and felt enormously supported, by the rest of the Dutch team as well as a lot of other Dutch people, and the audience here. They actually are wishing to become Dutch citizens and hadn't seen the awful lawsuit coming. They'd rather fight on the Ice! Jakucs en Galli voelen veel steun tijdens EK-optreden

Saskia Oudejans is in 6th place after the SP in Sr Women.
Summer Wijkhuizen ended in 9th place in Adv Novice Women. Well done Summer!

Angel Delavaque will take part in the European Youth Olympic Festival. She was also scheduled for the Chllenge Cup, but no longer (update today the 5th of February). The dates overlap, so understandably she'd rather represent NL at this European Festival than take part in an 'ordinary' competition. The source in both cases is the Skating website (and the Skating Federation).
As the Challenge Cup, also is considered to be the Dutch Championships (the Dutch skater that ends the highest in ranking gets the gold, second the silver; in theory you can come last in the competition but still be Dutch Champion if you're the only skater in that discipline. It actually happened among Sr men a few years ago) I am now showing the (provisional) list of Dutch skaters:

Today I am going to report on The Challenge Cup, I was actually present for a while.
Starting off with Ice Dance (only participants for NL in the Sr competition), Hanna/Alessio and Chelsea/Sherim were again very close: 6th for Hanna/Alessio, 7th for Chelsea/Sherim. Both didn't get the minimums for Worlds, but Chelsea and Sherim had already managed to get those in an earlier part of the season. Both couples did their best in the current competition. Chelsea and Sherim also became Dutch Champions. Unclear if anybody is going to Worlds at all.
In Adv Novice Boys, Leon Lo won the gold medal in a runaway manner, as the distance to numbers two and three was more than 40 points. He was a joy to watch. Excellent!
. As the only Dutch guy in this category, he also became Dutch Champion.
In adv novice girls Summer Wijkhuizen was 9th, Floor van der Pas 11th, Jazlyn Höppener 13th, Lilia Zhang 15th, Ksenia Usenko 18th, Donna de Laat 21st, Mandy van den Dries 22nd, Elina Sucur 23rd, and Elsbeth Marck 24th. Well done girls! Summer was also the Dutch champion, with Floor and Jazlyn second and third.
In Jr and Sr Women only the SP standings for now:
Jr: Lucca Dijkhuizen in 5th, Roos Harkema in 8th, Kahlan Gooijer in 11th, and Noa Fay Kappenberg in 15th.

Congratulations to Lucca Dijkhuizen who managed to rise 2 places at the Challenge Cup in the Jr Women singles, and got herself some hardware into the bargain, a bronze medal. Well done Lucca! She also became Dutch Champion in the Discipline, followed by Roos Harkema who was 9th at the CC, and Kahlan Gooijer who was 12th in the competition. Noa Fay Cappenberg was 15th. Well done all of you!

My last report on the Challenge Cup, as it was the final day of competition.
In Sr ladies Niki Wories was in 6th, Saskia Oudejans in 12th and Jolanda Vos in 13th. They became Dutch Champion, silver and bronze medallists as the highest placed Dutch participants. I think Niki wanted to do a little better, so she could get her minimums for the WC, but not to be. I believe she will be going to Romania to get them in a competition there. She can use some cheering, as do the other Dutch women.
