We did it. Dance was the tiebreaker for first place. The medal table for 4CC shows Canada in first place with 4 medals total , 1gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze.
Say what you might, Matthew had no pressure and whlle did well (minus poor sp color shirt, is not very reliable considering how he did at Canada Nationals. I am not sure Skate Canada can deny Roman. Wesley missed Nats and 4CC's He hasn't done that well this year internationally. Roman didn't bomb. He deserves to go. I am not saying he is a great threat but he is the "best of the worst" it would appear. He has about 6 weeks to work on the 4S and 3A. He needs to exploit or be able to expliot his skating skills so he can score like Jason Brown even when the tech is missing.I have never seen Matthew skate better. Of course, he deserved higher PCS - it was a wonderful program and skated very well. He should be proud.
But wondering how Wesley is doing. Roman got the TES he deserved here. I worry he won't make it out of the short at worlds and not sure he can rotate that 4S well enough to avoid a negative GOE. And then there is the triple axel. Sigh
I figured that out right away. Too bad it is based on two events. Men and Ladies still no real promise. There is more worry that a lady and man won't make it out of the sp then winning a top ten spot. The medal table for 4CC shows Canada in first place with 4 medals total , 1gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze.

Maddie was sick.As for the Canadian ladies. THere may have been some hope coming here but the results are very mediocre.
well you know, Lia and Trennt beat 3 American teams at 4CC, and Lia was sick when she arrived at 4CC. They also beat the Australians already. So sure, they could lose to the Germans and the Italians, like most teams, and already lost to the Japanese... but why mention Australia, USA and why not Uzbekistan while at it ???Happy for Lia and Trennt but I worry this team will be eaten up or get lost by Australia, Georgia, Germany USA, and the Italians. Add Japan and Deanna and Max and this team could be out of the top ten.
I get you are pessimistic about the state of Canadian skating, but qualifying for the free for women at 2024 Worlds was 53.81. 2023 Worlds was 54.65. The only woman short of that was Katherine, who was at her second international assignment and first ISU championship.I figured that out right away. Too bad it is based on two events. but I kept looking.I agree with your comments about Roman. I am almost at the point where I am not invested in his performance but feel sad for him (and us). Wesley has dealt with injuries this year so I am hopeful he will come back to his previous level of skating but agree - not this year. So focussed on the future. There are younger men at home who may develop (my hopes are on John Kim with 2 quads and a triple axel, but he may be another unpredictable performer like Roman).Say what you might, Matthew had no pressure and whlle did well (minus poor sp color shirt, is not very reliable considering how he did at Canada Nationals. I forget who mentioned this but conti/macchi don’t t have a group 5 lift but doesn’t seem to matter for them. Lia and Trent with no mistakes have better programs than alot of the others. The Georgians are mostly clean but the death program is terrible. I hope they do wellI haven't watched her FP yet, so cannot comment on that. When I posted after the SP, I did not know that Maddie was ill. I was concerned that complacency had crept in with her Worlds spot having already been confirmed, as she seemed kind of bored/disinterested. I was disappointed after the improvement at Nationals. If she was ill this week, that would explain things.
Yes, Matthew Newnham was injured earlier in this season. Ted commented at Nationals that he was on his way back from injury (I think he might have said ankle, but I'm really not certain).
Lia and Trent, I would put in the second cluster of pairs internationally. Hase/Volodin, Miura/Kihara, Deanna/Max, the Georgians and Conti/Macii are ahead. Lia and Trent are roughly on a par with the top couple of US pairs, the Hungarians, the second German and Italian pairs, and the Usbek pair. I think the Australian pair have dropped out of that group for the moment (they really need to sort their twist out - it's holding them back).

Quite an accomplishment but because the men and women did so poorly if you went by team total points I don't think Canada would do so well. The medal table for 4CC shows Canada in first place with 4 medals total , 1gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze.
Well, this was 4CC, and the competition wasn't a team event with points... so why bring this up ?Quite an accomplishment but because the men and women did so poorly if you went by team total points I don't think Canada would do so well.
