Oh wow!! So, he can technically be sent to worlds with a decent free skate. WowHe's also within .25 of getting world CTES minimum, having improved his short program TES by around 10 points! If he can improve the FS TES by .25, he'll have it!
According to skating scores, the US judge gave Matthew his highest marks! The Canadian judge was around the middle of all the judges.Just rewatched Matthew's program and did he ever get lowballed on GOE and PCS. Yes I know he skated early and is new to big events yet still, USA skaters can come out of no where and score big. If he was skating for the USA he would have scored 5-10 points higher.
yes and no... the problem is that even when clean, and a solid 3-3, judges don't reward sara-maude. If she didn't have good skating skills, fair but she's quite a good skater having started out as an ice dancer.I am concerned about Maddie... Am wondering whether they should have waited before naming the Worlds team, like they did with the men...
24th place in the short last season was 53.81, Maddie was above that here and around what she got there last season (59.65 to place 17th in the short.) Maddie should be fine to make the free skate. In case she doesn't, there's the Olympic Qualifying Event in Beijing. But to be honest after seeing the scores I have not even been able to watch Maddie's or Katherine's programs. If a CAN lady does not make the free dance at worlds does that mean we will not have a lady entry at the Olympics? Cause at this point it is looking like we may not have a lady in the free skate. But thinking at this point it may be a big wake up call if that happened.
i actually think it's best she's not competing again this season. She was improving fast with her new training team. Competitions take time away from training... We could see a brand new and improved Kaiya in the fall if she keeps getting better and better, the way it seems to be happening.I have some difficulty to accept that Kaiya season is over. She has so much potential !!
I wish that she would have be send to 4CC.
Agreed. Kaiya is reportedly re-working significant aspects of her jump and spin technique. It is best for her to consolidate such changes and get them thoroughly ingrained into muscle memory before doing any high profile competitions, and that is something which takes time. Under the pressure of competition, skaters tend to revert to muscle memory - and, for Kaiya at the moment, that means going back to technique which she is trying to unlearn. The extended break from competition now should help her in the future.i actually think it's best she's not competing again this season. She was improving fast with her new training team. well.. it would be very bad for the team event...In regards to our men - wondering how bad would it be if CAN didn't even send a man to worlds this year. As if looks now whom ever they send will have to up their game to even make the Free Skate. And our ladies are not much better.
Send Roman, if he doesn't make the free skate, then he doesn't make the free skate and someone has to go to Beijing. They won't get an Olympic spot by not sending anyone. In regards to our men - wondering how bad would it be if CAN didn't even send a man to worlds this year.
