2025 World Championships Practice Reports

Ahsun YUN KOR skating her FS also looks ready and is doing a mostly complete and clean run through. She stops for a bit, nosebleed maybe - no she resumes skating. She is trying as much of her technical content as possible and I am enjoying her skating to her music. Spins are slow, she does look a bit winded. I wonder how cold it is in Boston today...

All these skaters are on the ice
Sorry I cannot type fast enough to do the elements like Jackie Wong (check his posts if you need that) - my old arthritic fingers don't move that well anymore. I hope my general impressions will be enough for those unable to view practices and give you an idea how your favorites look.

Nargiz SUELEYMANOVA AZE skating to her FS marks her jumps as she is first to skate. She plays piano as a hobby. At 8 in the morning - a bit early for the drama of Dracula. Her energy picks up with the choreo sequence. A nice and different musical take on becoming a reluctant vampire.

Niina PETROKINA EST skating her SP. Her hobby is design and horse riding. She marks her early jumps with singles, but shows off her strong spins and musical footwork. Showing the confidence gained as European Champion.

Mariia SENIUK ISR skates her FS. Her hobbies are programming and collecting coins. She is doing a full run through mostly of the jumps. I love the way she feels her music. She looks very polished.

Vanesa SELMEKOVA SVK skating her SP marking her opening jump but showing good speed into the second 3F - maybe under rotated. Showing us her Sotnikova camel and ending with a spirited footwork sequence.

All these skaters but Xiangyi AN CHN are on the ice here at Steriti Memorial Rink.
Nina PINZARRONE BEL skating her FS in a burgundy costume similar to her gorgeous red dress.. She skates her opening combo right off the warm-up - impressive. She is very well trained and ready. Very refined movement that stands out among these women.

Xiangyi AN CHN skating her SP is not on the ice

Kristen SPOURS GBR skating her FS starting with her 3L combo that looked a bit short. She looks to be struggling a bit with her jumps and a bit winded - some jet lag perhaps. Getting stronger as she gets more warmed up. She gets impressive height on her jumps. Mostly attempting her jumps and footwork.

Lara Naki GUTMANN ITA skating her FS to last year's program to Wayward Sisters by Abel Korzeniowski and Sheltering Sky by Ryuichi Sakamoto. She caught my eye warming up turns in both directions and lots of spins in a very elegant way. Love this program on her - it is so beautiful, full of emotion and classy. She is quick and striking on the ice. This program - it has great emotional power for her.

I may be confused, but thought she had a different program earlier this year.

Sofja STEPCENKO LAT skating her FS with marked jump elements nearly runs into the boards. Not really getting a read on her skating as she is not attempting much other than some spins. Just getting a feel for the ice and the size of the rink I guess.

Julia SAUTER ROU skating her FS lists hip-hop as a hobby. She too is marking her early jumps. She elegantly performs her footwork and is very musical. I wish she would attempt her at least some jumps in the run through. Really cool and big split jump into spiral.
