Marilena finished 6th out of 12 in the FS, with a score of 78.64. This meant that she dropped to 6th position overall, with a score of 122.35.
Here is what I wrote about the Warm-Up in the competition thread:
All three of my kids in the Top 5 going into the FS.
In terms of the competition, this is the dream scenario.
In terms of the Warm-Up, it is a nightmare. Because I can't keep track of 3 skaters!
"There Must Be An Angel" by the Eurythmics playing.
I hope there is an angel looking after all of my girls!
And a few seconds of "As Long as You Love Me" by the Backstreet Boys at the very end of the Warm-Up.

Here is what I wrote when she was being introduced:
Now for back-to-back kids.
First up, it's Marilena.
ALL THE BEST MARILENA!!!

And here is what I wrote about her programme:
I don't know how to describe the dress Marilena is wearing. It's mainly black, with pinkish white.

Bells and dialogue at the start before the singing kicks in.
Beautiful combination to start with.
Fall on next jump.
Beautiful spin.
Popped next jump.
Next combination jump good.
You can see she's tiring. Perhaps the wait is affecting her more than Alex.
But then she threw in a big jump!
Had to have a wee hop in her penultimate spin.
I fear that she is going to drop positions. She was barely more than ahead of Alex and Victoria after the SP.
Yep, into 2nd position overall...
Before I go on, I should explain something. There were problems getting the music to play for the first skater to go in Group 2, Alex EVANS (USA). And it resulted in a big long delay before she finally got doing her programme. And, consequently, everybody after her had longer to wait between doing the Warm-Up and doing their programme. Marilena was the first to skate after her.
Looking at the Protocols, there were five elements that had no positive numbers beside them. The first, obviously, was the second element, the Triple Flip that she fell on. This had by miles the biggest GOE hit of the programme, at -2.65; and got -5 from all five Judges.
Fortunately, the remaining negative GOE's were not anywhere near as costly as that. They ranged from -0.50 for the third element, the Change Foot Combination Spin; to -0.02 for the fifth element, the Single Lutz. The third element, the Double Loop, was completely neutral in terms of GOE and Judges marks. And the positive GOE's ranged from +0.10 for the Layback Spin at the very end; to +0.10 for the Triple Lutz-Double Toe that she opened with.
Apart from the aforementioned Triple Flip that she fell on, there are two other elements that stood out from the rest in the Protocols. The first was the seventh element, the Double Salchow-Double Toe, where the Double Toe was under-rotated. It got the thrd biggest GOE hit, at -0.35; along with Judges marks of three -3's and two -2's. The other was the penultimate element, the Flying Camel Spin where I noted "a wee hop". It got the second biggest GOE hit, at -0.38; as well as -3 from Judge 5; -2 from three Judges; and -1 from Judge 3.
Marilena finished the Free Skate 1.96 points behind 5th position, Genevieve SOMERVILLE (GBR), and 0.27 points ahead of 7th position, Aleksandra GOLOVKINA (LTU).
Overall, Marilena finished 2.94 points behind of 5th position, Golovkina, and 2.72 points ahead of 7th position, Somerville.
It was disappointing to see Marilena drop a position from the SP, but she did actually finish the FS where she should have on paper. The programmes of all the skaters ahead of her had Base Values that were higher than her programme. And apart from Victoria ALCANTARA (AUS) who had a nightmare skate, the programmes of all the skaters behind her had Base Values that were lower than her programme.
It should also be noted that the only skaters who had a higher Programme Components Score than Marilena in the FS were the Top 3, and the skater that finished directly below her in the FS.
Bearing in mind that this is Marilena's first competition of the season, this is encouraging. Because it means when she gets more experience with the programmes and goes clean, her scores will improve further.
WELL DONE MARILENA!!!
