Hello! I hope you guys can help me as I have been struggling finding a skate that fits.

I switched from skates that were too big to skates that were too narrow about a few months ago. I got my first pair from the rink I skate at where someone measured my foot. When I went to get new skates at my current fitter, they told me my skates were too big. The current fitter did not measure my feet at all and just took the insole out for me to stand on to see if the length was correct. I also wasn't exactly sure how the skates were supposed to feel since it was my first time getting a fitted skate. They didn’t take into account how much I weigh or much of anything.

I realized the skates were too narrow when my feet became super red after skating less than 5 minutes, and I started having pain just standing in them for a few minutes. They told me I just need to break them in more when I told them the issues I was having. It was clearly not a break in issue. Then I asked them to let me buy new boots, which is when I realized they also gave me a boot that was not supportive enough for the elements I was working on, which is another story. I got the Jackson Debuts in the end and got them heat molded.

The fitter said they might have to re-mount my skate to correct my accessory navicular. I felt like I could go in a straight line when I did one foot glides and my coach said I was skating straight. I also had my boots punched out, but I am still getting blisters from the tongue because the side of the tongue rubs against the bone. I'm wondering if my boot just doesn't fit my foot. I have just been using makeup sponges for that issue.

In my current skates, I had to ask them to try on different sizes. After skating in them for a few weeks, I feel like my heels are slipping when I do jumps due to blisters around the heel area when I tried a few jumps. (I’m not sure if my heels are slipping anymore after skating in them longer. I don't know what is counted as heel slippage). They also said I had narrow feet but didn’t recommend any other brands. Originally, they had wanted me in a smaller size after seeing the insole but that hurt my big toe too much and squished my toes a little bit when I tried it on so I asked for a bigger size. In my current skates, it didn't feel like my heels were lifting when I tried them on in the store, but I don't think I tested heel slippage correctly.

I'm working on sit spin/power pulls/backspin/loop jump/bkwd 3 turns right now and plan on learning all my single jumps and axel and potentially doubles or go into ice dance after my axel. ~115 lbs. 5' 2". After researching online, it looks like I have a roman foot and normal to high arches, possibly narrow heels. I also have accessory navicular bones in both my feet. Sorry if this was too long, but I would just rather get correctly fitted so I don't mess up my feet and to make sure I don't waste any more money buying skates that don't fit correctly. I hope you can give me some advice! Thank you in advance!

TLDR:
-Looking for skate recommendations(specific models) that will fit my feet(from the looking at the forum, possibly Riedell, Edea?
-Will I need my skates mounted a certain way because of my accessory navicular?
-Looking for skate fitter recommendations

I’ve seen recommendations for a fitter more accessible to me, but I am willing to travel out of state if I need to if there are better ones where the sport is more popular. (in socal since I am going there this summer).

Since it might take a while if your skates had to be ordered, how does your travel schedule fit? Will you be in southern California early enough and stay long enough to be fitted there and be able to wait for new boots? Or are you not staying that long and should get fitted and ordered where you live, before you travel to the coast? In which case, where do you currently live, in which state, so someone can recommend a nearby skate shop and fitter. It sounds as if you went to a shop which carries only one or two brands and you may need a different brand to accommodate your foot structural problem. Good luck!

Hi and welcome! I'm sorry you are going through all this. I'm thinking Risport or Graf for you.

Where are you in this world? That will help me find you a professional fitter and not one that's at the rink and has no clue (obvious from this post) what they are doing.

Once you let me know those answers, I can get back to you on specifics. :)

I dm'd you!

@Ic3Rabbit @Diana Delafield Sorry. I meant to put Egyptian foot!
If you have an Egyptian foot then Riedell, Edea or Risport Royal line.

Riedell Bronze Star, Edea Chorus, Risport Royal Pro.

You'll need blades to go with those and would be best with a traditional style intermediate blade either John Wilson Coronation Ace or MK Pro.

You may need a split width boot if the regular ones don't fit both ends of your foot properly.

Oh and for the issues you are having with the boots hurting/tearing up your feet/ankles----Bunga pads are your friends.

Good luck! :)

Hi! I'm going to the fitter next week and I don't think they Risports available.

Update: I'm working on the flip jump and about to start the lutz jump, working on brackets and counters, and camel spin now. I also believe that the Jacksons I have DO have some heel slippage since I am still getting blisters from jumping. The Jacksons have also made my toes hurt(it caused some bruising on my toenail) I think due to the higher heel. My friend let me try her Risport RF3s and I could feel a difference(it didn't hurt my toes and I wasn't as pitched forward), however it was hurting my ankle a little due to my protruding ankle bones even with the bunga pads on. I think the Royal line you recommended may be softer? Do you still recommend the same skates?

Thanks again!

If you end up going to the place I suggest3e to you in the DM then yes he should have Risports and Royal Pros should be one of them. Last I knew they were selling for about 529 dollars there.
