Edea Concertos Fit?

hi! I'm a Melbourne (Aus.) skater so not a lot of options for fitters/boots so seeking some advice. About 2 weeks ago got a pair of Edea Concertos 265C with MK Pro blades, upgrading from 275C Jackson Mystique. Fitter has told me I have 'perfect Edea feet' ( i have an egyptian foot shape) aside from them being a little wide at the top. When I was first trying on the boots I noticed a bit of heel slipping when i walked on my left foot (which I think is smaller than my right?) but fitter told me would be fine. Totally wasn't fine and I went back to him and told him about it and he told me to a. wear socks instead of tights b. tie my skates tighter. So... did both those things and am still having my heel move up and down a little when walking around off ice and when stroking particularly hard, it feels a bit like my heel doesn't fit into the socket, like it's hovering? I feel like my boot is honestly a little small, like if i push my toes all the way to the front my heel maybe finally slips into place. Not sure what to do... boots too small? too short? too narrow? too wide in the heel? My toes go totally numb after skating in the boots for like 30 mins, I get arch pain for the first 30 mins but that fades as well. Am lacing the edea way but have to really pull very tight to get my heel to feel like it's supported. I can be anywhere from an EU 39-42 in shoe sizes if that's helpful at all, have also attached a photo of my left insole print. Have done maybe 20 hours on these boots so far?

Edea Insole

any other stats that might help, am 19F, 163cm, 65kg, foot is about 26.5cm

Your scenario is too messy to attempt a diagnosis over the Internet. It appears that, among other factors, (a) the heel pocket of the boot is too small to insert the heel of your foot into it, OR (b) the heel pocket of the boot is too big to snugly grip the heel of your foot. An in-person inspection by a competent fitter, coach, or fellow skater would be needed to assist you. Your current fitter doesn't appear to fit the bill. I believe there are forum members who can direct you to competent fitters closest to you. If not, ask around your rink for referrals to people who might help. Good Luck.

This won't be much help, but I also have Egyptian feet, and it appears you have high arches like I do. I didn't want Edeas anyway, but my fitter in Canada said they'd only fit my foot shape with some serious molding in the toe area, plus arch supports. Jacksons used to be my boot of choice, but since they changed the shape of the last, my choices now are Risport, Riedell, and Graf. Which doesn't help if you have limited choices of brands where you live. Good luck!

There's a lot of unknowns here, and I agree that you should probably find a better shop (maybe return the boots if you can and get something else).

I'll still say something to try and help you out:

1. The size is correct. You could wear 270 and that would still be fine. Although you could take a picture with your foot, especially showing the heel on the insole, just to confirm it actually sits where it should and the boots/your measurements are not off
2. Toes going numb and arch pain suggests that you need to widen the forefoot.

I'm a little confused what "wide at the top" means, instep? High arches? Having to tighten the laces really tight to feel good lockdown suggests you have low volume feet, and depending how bad it is, you could try thicker more supportive insole. A thick sock or a sleeve I wouldn't wear, because it also sounds like perhaps your heel is too wide to fit the pocket, which honestly if you went from 275C Jacksons to 265 Edea can easily be the case. And to address that, you would need to also mold the heel area as well.

But in all honesty, it sounds more like you have Risport feet, not Edea...

But in short, if you must try make those boots work, you're going to need to do some heat molding, and possibly getting a better insole. And I would not do it in the shop you got the boots from, because they clearly don't know what they're doing.

And if other shops around you don't mold Edeas, then you'll have to do it yourself. It can be done, I've done it, but I wouldn't recommend it if you can avoid it (sell the boots instead if you can, try Risport, Graf, or go back to Jackson). Because it's really easy to mess up the boot in a really dangerous way (Edea's crappy hollow plastic sole melting from inside and becoming super dangerous, and you might not even see it).

That's my 2 cents anyway, I'm sorry you got fitted into a boot that doesn't actually fit you.
