2026 Olympic Season | Music Suggestions

now that i'm thinking about it, there are a number of programs i really loved this year that i would be glad to see again for the olympic season-

Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps - Blue Planet FS
Alysa Liu - Promise by Laufey SP
Ilia Malinin - Running SP (really want him to go a different direction for his FS)
Nina Pinzarrone - Handmaid's Tale FS
Mone Chiba - Last Dance SP
Niina Petrokina - Dune FS
Smart/Dieck - Dune FD

Music i'd be more than happy to never hear again :) -
Stellato-Dudek/Deschamps - Crazy in Love SP (the most awful version of that song i've ever heard)
Daniel Grassl - Billy Elliot FS
Guignard/Fabbri - Robot FD (hoping they have much, much better overall packaging and programs next year. this season was a travesty.)

still holding on to my delusional hope Wakaba will bring back Skyfall so we can finally see it on olympic ice :)

i also agree with what someone said earlier about Efimova/Mitrofanov skating to Samson and Delilah or Die Fliedermaus, i can see it.

I think Niina will keep her Dune program. Read that somewhere, can't remember where exactly now.

Someone mentioned Italian music... well... that is scary in some ways :)
Do we really need Bocelli and Einaudi to spam us for the entire season ? There are also some operas which shouldn't be used by young skaters... just saying.
Someone actually wondered about what kind of music get excited people in Milan Ice Skating Arena.

I am not Italian :) but I don't find much excitement with bocelli and einaudi... maybe some Italians would really cheer for that... I don't know

How about the old, tried and tested R&J ?
And I know who would be perfect fit - Alisa/Misha!
Alas, they are not likely to be in Milan 😓
I prefer above all others the Tchaikovsky’ s version but Sasha Cohen in Torino was quite a hit with Rota so i would not mind

Nino Rota ! That would be my pick if I were to choose music to perform for the Italian audience. With Morricone, of course.

^ For ages I wished that someone would pick Morricone’s La Piovra soundtrack- there are so many great pieces, but nobody does at least I am not aware of any program
So we get Mission again and again😗

not this italian as you well know...italian modern music is mostly basic pop (or disco like s*it good only for tiktok). i think Italians would love some classic pop like Raffaella Carrà or some other 60/70 well known classic

nobody like a realistic series about mafia...

And the Godfather?
it's anything but realistic. mobster are represented as antiheroes but still in a sort of positive light. yes there're shootings and horse heads, but they still come up as cool and you don't see how common people are effected by their influence. (same goes for once upon a time in America)

Cinema Paradiso. Enio Morrocine is a genius, and I still think the music from The Mission is probably more brilliant from the perspective that it is so unique and has such a brilliant juxtaposition of musical styles with the European meets South American indigenous sound.

But I think Cinema Paradiso is one of the best films ever made, and the music (although a bit repetitive thematically), is perhaps the most beautiful piece of cinematic music I've ever heard. It's ability to reach into my heart and bring me to tears after just a few measures puts it in at a whole different level.

I'm not sure who I could see pulling it off best to be honest ... but I would love to see someone give it a try from this current crop of skaters.

I want someone to try a program similar to the program by torvill and Dean in 94. Happy fun light dancing classic music. Similar to the foxtrot and other classic 1900s dance styles that you used to see a lot more of in ice dance before vocals came into the picture. Similar to something that I think the Finish dance team did in the mid-90s. We hear too many emotional ballads and emo contemporary classical music; I want something light, positive, classic, dancing, Ballroom Style :-)

please stop classical choices we are in 2025 !
Classical music offers so much though. Such an incredible depth that you just don't get in a lot of the more modern pseudo classical music that I know, as a musician and composer, I could whip off in probably an hour as it's so incredibly repetitive, formulaic, and shallow. Now, there's room for lots of different kinds of music, don't get me wrong, so let's not throw out any one style totally...
