To hurt you even more, Lara Luft (Misha's girlfriend) won't be skating for Germany anymore. I wanted to wait until she announced her new partnership fully, but she revealed (in a podcast) that she has relocated to New York and will be skating for Hungary with a new partner (I think it's easy enough to put together the pieces as to who her new partner is).
Good for her, not so good for German skating.
Misha who? Mitrofanov?

Another new team from the Patinage Quebec teams list - Equipe B

Eliana Secunda and Thierry Ferland (Pairs, Canada) are a new team. She previously competed pairs with Blake Eisenach in the US.
And they're off the latest updated list 😔 - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Equipes-B-RC-25-26-V5.pdf

Stavrina Aranitis (Women, Canada) had a retirement reel posted by Ecole Excellence Rosemere. She finished 5th at 2024 Nationals and was on the 2024-25 NextGen team.

Nora Marleen Rothenbuehler / Manuel Rossi are a new pairs team for Switzerland 🇨🇭 and Anita Mapelli / Noah Quesada Grau are a new pairs team for Spain 🇪🇸 (most likely, based on Hieloespanol reposting the IG post on their stories).

Nora previously skated for Hungary with Mózes József Berei but is now returning to her country of origin following the dissolution of their partnership, while Manuel was an Italian pairs skater in roller skating who is now making the transition to ice skating.

On the other hand, Anita was an Italian Singles skater before, while Noah skated with his previous partner, Claudia Sinclair Scotti (who is also Italian, by the way), for Spain.

Both teams train in Bergamo, at the IceLab.

Another Patinage Quebec update from Equipe B:

Nelly-Anne Chao and Tommy Dayong Liu are a new Ice Dance team for Canada
Christina Podgornei and Thierry Caron are a new Ice Dance team for Canada

Chao and Caron were previously a team and split after Canadian Nationals. Christina Podgornei is a member of Golding Ice Junior in Synchro (Ice Dance and Synchro has several dual competitors in Canadian Juniors.) Tommy Dayong Liu competed in Novice Men in Ontario, so he looks to be new to Ice Dance.

A skaters’ partnership, though not (so far) a skating partnership:
Mariah Bell and Brandon Frazier have gone Instagram-official!

Alena Kerr / Mitchell Castelletti (USA, Novice pairs champions) and Graceann Gottschalk / Sam Herbert (USA, Jr Pairs) have split.
Alena Kerr / Sam Herbert (USA, pairs) have paired up, training under Jim Peterson and Amanda Evora, while Mitchell is looking for a new partner.

Alena & Sam's announcement:

Mitchell's partner search announcement:

Xuantong Li / Grigory Rodin (CHN, Ice Dance) have split, Xuantong is looking for a new partner:

From what I've heard (and what she implied in the IG story), there were issues with getting a release - Most likely from the side of the Chinese federation (they've been reluctant to accept foreign skaters into the National team in the past, and they weren't even training in China).

So now I'm just patiently waiting for a particular new partnership announcement... 👀

Update: Russian sources claim that they planned to represent Italy as Rodin has Italian citizenship somehow.

China was inviting Russian skaters some time ago. That's not even a rumour, it was very open. Though, it looks like it ended in nothing.
Tbh, I don't know what they were thinking this would lead to, isn't it very hard for foreigners to get Chinese citizenship? (And yes, I know tons of partnerships are not formed with the Olympics in mind, but the Chinese fed seems to have always been more focused on that than many other feds.)

And now I'm wondering if his marriage is not to facilitate him getting a German passport (as they'd still have to live in Germany for that), but his wife an Italian one, especially considering the fact they already live and train in Italy. 🤔 (And I'm not saying this is purely a passport-marriage, they seem to genuinely be in love based on the few IG posts they have together, but it wouldn't be the first "dual-purpose" marriage in Ice Dance in particular either - Lauriault / le Gac & Neset / Markelov, to name two.)

I love this sentence, because it is so preposterous, and yet I'm certain it's true.

"You're not going to believe this. I was cleaning out my closet and found an Italian passport with my name in it. Don't know where it came from, but I guess I have Italian citizenship somehow!"
