2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

But the Korean JGP qualifier (which she'd have to compete at to even get any JGP assignments) is usually also in the last ten days of July and that would collide with the July Ontario Sectional Series 🤔 Are there any rules about who can get invited to NextGen camp+competition?

(Also wondering about Victoria Barakhtina, who hasn't competed at all in Canadian domestic competitions yet, but must surely have been released by now.)
They need to be age eligible to compete for Canada from the selection document for NextGen. She would have met the target score in October, and they can add skaters based on monitoring. This is why I'm leaning and not certain, hopefully she enters a JGP selection competition for an answer.

The rules for non-citizens competing are here, I'm assuming they would apply to NextGen as well - https://info.skatecanada.ca/index.p...canadian-citizens-eligibility-to-compete.html

They no longer require proof of Permanent Resident status or filing for Canadian citizenship to be eligible to compete for singles skaters. They do need to show evidence that they have permission to reside in Canada along with the release letter. Living and training in Canada should be enough for that in both the cases of Minsol and Victoria.

Skate Ontario interviewed Roman, his new free is supposed to be happy:

only 5 spots for men and women... i guess we may see 5 different skaters on the circuit,
I don't think you are likely to have anyone in those categories in contention for JGPF qualification. If you don't, it makes sense to give international experience to as many skaters as possible.

Bit of a surprise to me, but David Shteyngart is on Icepartnersearch:
https://icepartnersearch.com/showbio.php?i=7881

All the best of luck for him to find a pairs partner, there are a lot of talented girls out there, so I'm sure there will be someone who is a good match for him.
Considering his built, not too surprising. Maybe he knows his longevity is in pairs rather than trying to learn quads ? I wish him all the best....

one less David in the group....

Entries for Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships have some Canadians competing there - https://ijs.usfigureskating.org/leaderboard/results/2025/36167/index.asp

David Shteyngart is entered for the Lake Placid Figure Skating Championships under Senior Men, so it looks like he'll still be competing as a Senior while searching.

David Bondar is entered for Junior Men (I'll get out my candles 🕯️), Reese Rose and Nour-Houda Foura for Senior Women, Emily Wemp for Junior Women.

Also CQE looks to be a good one for the TBD spots from the entries - https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Liste-participants-CQE_2025-18062025.pdf

Off topic, but Clare Seo is also on this list despite being removed from the USFS ISP... Wonder what's going on with that 🤔
Isn't it an open competition, rather than an ISU international? If so, I don't think skaters need to be selected by their Fed to enter?

Wow! I posted that I thought he would be an ideal male partner in Pairs and then this happens…. 👏

He is no longer junior eligible and to make it out of Canada to international events, it is quite hard. So, Pairs makes sense to me considering his build.

I’m so happy for him and I think whatever lady decides to pair up with him, will be quite smart to do so
