2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

David seems taller. I hope he doesn't continue growing, it seems to have been the downfall of so many Canadian men recently...

Robert Brodie interviews Breken Brezden:

He has a good point about Saskatchewan being next to Manitoba for the TBD spot :D🕯️
Maddie and Breken interviews were much better than Roman’s interview. They talk in more detail which allows me to connect more with them.

I love Breken.
Another highlight is that it seems she has learned a new combo - 3Lz 3T and is going for two 3F’s in the free skate. Prior to this, she went for 3T 3T in the SP and 2A 3T in the free skate. Also, the flip was her worst jump and now she is going for two flips. Breken also mentioned competing at three summer domestic events (two in ONT and one in QUE). Looks like somebody is hungry and eager to fight for that TBD spot.

😭 😭 Gabby withdrew from the free skate. I kind of anticipated this to be the case. She tends to struggle in the longer programs.

I have a dream that Uliana Shiryaeva change one of her program for the Matrix like Kaori Sakamoto music :

or James Bond Medley like Mirai Nagasu music :

.

It would be cool :)

Have to wonder if the TBD spot would have gone to KMS had she not got an invite elsewhere. Nice that we do have so many to choose from this year where in the past they didn't feel any one was worthy of the spot.

I think Skate Canada is being smart with KMS. She won Warsaw challenger last season and I believe they are waiting to see if she nabs a second spot on her own merit, due to her 180+ score last season. If someone pulls out due to injury, KMS May get two spots alone on the GP circuit without needing this TBD spot. Uliana is also close. It would be amazing if KMS gets a second spot and Uliana gets a spot and then another lady gets the TBD spot. If nobody skated well this summer and KMS doesn’t get a second GP spot due to no withdrawals, she could always get this spot.

I wish they did the same with the men. Stephen G was our third best skater from last season with 216 score. However, that spot should have been TBD spot in case someone like David Bondar skates lights out at a domestic event. What if he lands 4T consistently and improves drastically? The 200+ junior score at this recent summer event, shows he can contend. Also, Anthony Paradis may learn a 3A spot. Sad that the Canadian Men’s team doesn’t allow anybody else to fight amongst these three chosen Canadian Men this Olympic Season.

Reese Rose just scored 91.62 in her free skate. Not good, but, she did beat Sophie (US junior champion) by almost ten points!!! 😳

I wonder if Reese is moving up to Senior Women domestically. Her total score in this competition is 140+. She doesn’t have the consistency to finish in the upper half top 9 at Senior Nationals. So, she seems to be in limbo land. I hope she does better at Next Gen, if she is competing for junior GP spots.

Nour-Houda meanwhile had a redemption skate to nab 3rd 🥉 place in the free skate. She also beat the reigning US Junior Champion. She scored 90.05. However, she is going to have to do much better than this if she wants to get through QUE Sectionals.

Also, Reese ended up taking second place. But, first place overall if you combine the SP and FP scores. So, nice way to start her season. She is undefeated 🤗

I am assuming they want David B for JGP given he skated junior at Lake Placid. I am hoping for great skates from John Kim who does have two quads and the triple axel. Hoping for a challenger / senior B (or two) this season for him to position for next season GP. 🤞
