I love the purple on Jaslynn, and I like the program (though I'd prefer a non-cover version of the song). The performance was messy today, and the twist technique was very far from where it should be. The fall on the lift was clearly more of a fluke, but the twist is more of a systemic issue. I don't think they had a double twist last season in Novices, but I really want them (and need them) to make sure their basic twist technique is good, even if that means going back to the "worthless" (in Juniors) 1Tw.

VERY impressed with these two. Beau didn't skate pairs last year... Vladimir is in his first experiences as a pair boy.... and wow...

THeir spins were really good, very in synch...

I like this new team.

Interesting how both new teams from Quebec were readier than the very established Marly.

A good debut for these two, too. I don't know if I like this program - I understand where the inspiration is coming from, but I still feel like there's too much going on in terms of the music and sound cuts and it's not doing them any favours at this point.

So 5/8 look fine for JGP to me. And maybe the 6th
with 12 spots... Skate Canada should just send the top six. And among the top six really, the ones who are the least ready right now are Marly.... but we will see.. it all depends on getting those scores too...

which brings the question ? how much do they need ?

I would give 2 events to each of the current top 6 even if some don't quite meet the score. I think they are all ready for the experience. The other 3 pairs are not ready yet and could get destroyed by the pressure of a JGP event.

Wong and Conforti are not age eligible... so they are out anyway :)

If Skate Canada is stingy... they could opt not to give two events to Ava and Stephen and/or Beau and Vlad... but they should give two spots to the top six IMHO
