Now out of Skate America, too. They are still in for Skate America at the moment.
From comments made by Liam Kapeikis after his free skate at Nebelhorn, the Men and Pairs Skate America host spots are still TBD and the skaters are being used as placeholders. The USFS international assignments page lists them as TBD. Shin/Nagy do not have the spot yet. I do not like USFS using skaters as placeholders, if they weren't ready to name their host spots by the same deadline that the other host federations had (September 15th per Mike Slipchuk at Skate Canada), that is a problem for them and not for the skaters that they decided to use as placeholders.I heard that the Skate America TBD spot has gone to Shin/ Nagy, who now have two GP assignments. Boy, are they being pushed by U.S. fed. Even Pereira/ Michaud only have one GP assignment so far, and they deserve two, frankly.Despite a few mistakes that hurt P/M at Nebelhorn, I really think both of their programs this season suit them so well, better than what they've had previously.
Zhang/Huang were able to get two thanks to being eligible for a host spot. They were given one due to being 19th on the SB 24 list as well as being JGPF champions. They didn't medal at Junior Worlds, they came 5th.The limited GP assignments are due, in part, to returning team, Sui/ Han, getting two GP spots, which may change if they still aren't in shape to compete. Plus, junior team turned senior, Zhang/Huang get two GP spots, but they were NOT World Junior champions, just bronze medalists, due to two senior teams copping World Jr medals cuz they were 'age eligible.'![]()
There is no guarantee that McBeath/Parkman would have won the bronze at Skate to Milano. Nagaoka/Moriguchi scored 192.77 at Kinoshita Group Cup and weren't able to replicate those scores two weeks later at Skate to Milano. Skating at a Challenger is different than skating at an event where they absolutely must place top three in order to qualify a spot, especially when they are likely not eligible for that Olympic spot that they're qualifying. The other part of this is that McB/Park would have won the bronze medal and a third Olympic pairs spot for the U.S. at the recent Skate To Milano with the 183.81 score they got at Nebelhorn for 5th place overall (the latter score is not even as high as they have achieved). McB/Park scored 187+ overall at John Nicks Pairs Challenge, winning the bronze medal. As well, McB/Park are 23rd on the Worlds standings list vs Shin/ Nagy at 46. Skatingscores shows that S/N have yet to win 2026 Worlds minimums. Apparently, U.S. fed is pushing S/N to get Worlds minimums soon, so they can send S/N to Worlds for the 3rd spot over Chan/Howe.
In figure skating, there's no guarantee of anything. I didn't say McB/Park were 'guaranteed' to win a third Olympic spot in pairs for the U.S., but common sense, based on M/P's current competitive results, gave them a higher probability to do so than Shin/Nagy, which should have been the deciding factor. I pointed out that McB/Park's recent total score at Nebelhorn would have placed them third at Skate to Milano, and that's true based on the numbers. There is no guarantee that McBeath/Parkman would have won the bronze at Skate to Milano.
I learned from Jackie Wong's recent Rocker Skating podcast (Nebelhorn & Nepala wrap-up episode) that Shin/Nagy had been named to SkAm. To my knowledge, it is unusual for U.S. fed to make SkAm announcements as 'placeholders.' Of course, some GP assignments do tend to change at the last minute, for a variety of reasons, across-the-board.The USFS international assignments page lists them as TBD. Shin/Nagy do not have the spot yet.
You can probably Google it, as the tv schedule might fluctuate in different regions. If you have Peacock streaming, they post event and discipline dates under Sports at least a week prior.Does anyone have the tv schedule for the U.S.? Thanks.

@ramurphy2005 posted in the U.S. pairs thread that McBeath/ Parkman received another assignment due to being at the top of the alternates list. What is McB/Park's second event @ramurphy2005? Do you have a link to the alternates list?

Skate to Milano SBs weren't used for the SB updates for the alternates
That hasn't been released yet. I would hope that it's released at some point this week, or next week at the latest.Does anyone have the tv schedule for the U.S.? Thanks.
Okay, thanks. I checked ISU website again for the GP pairs assignments. I see that the Aussies have been removed for GP France opener and McB/Park are added, with 'new' bolded next to their names. That's a great opportunity for Katie & Daniil. Of course, they will now have to navigate back-to-back assignments with their Cup of China event happening the following weekend. Still, this is a good chance for them to continue building on their momentum. They got the France spot when the Aussies withdrew.
There are links on the side bar when you open the main forum page on a computer. If you're using a phone or tablet, you do have to scroll down to see them.Where can I find the updated chart of all the participants at each event, please? The link on page 1 is old.
As local fed announced "we have possibility to have one male skater" I asked in public why there is possibility for no more than one, note the word possibility is the key word, not if I wanted more because the level in Finland is not high at the moment. They answered me in private "if host country can fill all three spots with their own skater, there must be at least one skater at top75 in season's best statistic", that should concern last season, of course, because it is told so in the beginning of season. I do not know why they did not want to tell that in public, I think it is not a secret but I did not know this. Edit: included for no more than one..Finland gave Taschlers host spot, I was expecting it and happy for it. They would have got 1 of they own so they have now two.
And I my guess Iida Karhunen will get host spot and other will be selected later was also true. The other ones are so equal but Iida has best SB and best ranking.
Edit, I thought not to go but men..I must rethink.
When a skater withdraws, the spot goes to whichever skater is at the top of the replacement list. Once that skater has two spots, they then move on to the next skater on the list. Sofia Samodelkina is top of the list. She already has one spot - so one of Kimmy's spots will go to her and the other to the next skater on the list, which is Anna Pezzetta. The top Canadian lady on the list is Katherine Medland-Spence, who is currently 7th on the list. She will not get a second spot until all the skaters above her on the list have two spots (which may not happen).I wish that at least one GP assigmnent of Kimmie Repond will be giving to a Canadian ladies, it would be so Nice !![]()
With Samodelkina and Pezzetta both assigned to NHK Trophy, it'll probably be Livia Kaiser for that spot. Samodelkina should get Cup of China (and could still have a valid visa from competing at Asian Winter Games too.)When a skater withdraws, the spot goes to whichever skater is at the top of the replacement list.
