Skating first at the Olympic qualifying event with no federation and no country and no judges he is looking at the usual PCs of 4 to 5 with that. If you are getting 4 or 5 in pcs you are not going to get the goe you need on Any technical elements. He does not qualify for Olympics is obvious now.

This is clearly nonsense, but just for the record, he is not getting any 4 or 5 in PCs, even in the worst possible underscoring scenario; his skating skills and tech are too good for that. And, minus a complete meltdown, he will of course qualify; there just aren't 5 other skaters in the entry list that can reach or surpass the skating level he just shows in the video above, even if there is no program at all. As I said, the SP program is not good and hopefully will be changed, but this will not affect results in the qualifier, the gap skating-wise is too big.

Okay, so they took them off the protocols. I assume they didn't skate then. I'm staying tuned. I guess if Popov shows up in the stages of RGP, we'll know that the grand Uzbek venture didn't pan out. Which would make me cry. Come on, RusFed, let the kid go!

26-year-old Igor Efimchuk has returned to competing. He last performed in 2017/2018 season. Today he won a medal at the SPb Cup that must provide him a spot in the RGP series.

That's before I started following FS, but interesting that someone would return after such a lengthy break. I guess if he gets a spot in the RGP they will recap his career. His ISU sheet says he was born in Kaz, seems unwise to skate for Russia if he could make the second boy after Shaidorov.
Talk about a blast from the past. I always quite liked his skating. He was unlucky not to get to junior worlds in 2017 when he placed 3rd in junior nationals. Didn’t realise he was Kazakh born, could easily grab a 2nd spot behind Shaidorov even if I do like Jirnbayev’s (spelling) skating. It would be great to see him on the Russian GP and make nationals.

Why wouldn’t you skate in a costume? I am not understanding. Gummenik will be totally absent from all isu events. To the skating world he won’t exist for 4 months. I totally believed the upcoming OQE would be taken more seriously as a chance to show the whole skating world your absolute best. To try to make a huge positive impression. That was totally wrong. It’s seen as just a do some jumps quietly qualify and leave. Don’t make any impression. Show up at the Olympics and try to grab people with your mystery. Adelia seemingly has taken the opposite strategy of gumennik and what I believed made the most sense.

I remember Efimchuk! I was a fan of Aliev since he was a junior so I remember him from Junior Nationals one year. In between 2015-2017. Whatever year that Aliev won and Efimchuk was on the podium.

It’s pretty much about being sick of skating and then missing skating and going back. When reading the interview I was like “Alysa Liu!”
Gumennik's programs are total doozy. He honestly should just go back to his old programs. The good thing is that he looks solid and fit and jumps are totally dialed in. I guess at the end of the day, it is important that he is nailing his jumps more than anything else but that program ain't winning any medal.

He and his coach told the media that he recently returned to the ice (he hadn't skated for about four years) to help his coach and discovered that he could still perform 3A, etc. He realised that he still wanted to compete.
The weird thing is you are left believing he doesn’t want to win any medals. He’s not skating for medals. He’s not even skating for top 10. He’s skating just to be there

There might be multiple reasons. What if he has no money to fund himself and travel to events? What if he doesn't want to renounce Russian citizenship as he wants to coach here?

So true. You could ask why any Russian skater is still there. There are reasons. At this point it only makes sense for Petrosian gumennik Dikidzhi and Gorbacheva to be Russian. For everyone else it would make sense to leave
This is very inspiring, good luck to him in the season!
When I read this, it kind of gave me some hope that just maybe Misha Kolyada could also be inspired by it

Since now it has been revealed he is skating onegin at least he will have one good program with a magnificent costume!!
