2025 Skate to Milano (Olympic Qualifier) | Sep 19-21

I wouldn't look at expos to predict much. I dont think Adeliia has ever jumped ultra-c in expos regardless of her form. I would be very surprised if we don't see high content from her. I think she should use her only international start before the Olympics to get the mental practice in of jumping that sort of content with this pressure. Trying ultra-c under that pressure for the first time at the Olympics would be rough.
I'm not sure what to expect. I don't think they will risk 3A if there's a risk of her singling it in the short program. Maybe adjust the layout put the sequence and a 3-3 early in the free skate. I think you want to leave her some outs if things go really wrong. 170 should see her qualify (I'm not sure why many are attempting to qualify they have almost zero chance).

Are medals even handed out for this event?

For PCS I couldn't imagine Petrosian being lower than Gubanova?

When did the designation change from Czech Republic to Czechia?

Okay, I checked online. Czech Republic is the official, formal designation. Czechia is the official geographical name, recommended for use in less formal situations.

Skating commentators have tended to use 'Czech Republic.' Albeit that 'Team Czechia' is now the name used for the country's sports teams, since 'Czechia' was adopted by the country for brevity and grammatical correctness since 2016.

Given how well they seem to have started, I think Liu/Bedard could also be in the mix for the third spot if the US was able to secure it.
Liu/ Bedard seem more comfortable together and more in sync than Shin/ Nagy, but Chels, Ryan, and Balazs are all long-time pairs skaters with lots of experience under their belts, while Audrey is new to the pairs discipline and thus she's still adjusting and learning. That's the difference, along with a bit of a maturity gap between Balazs and Audrey of 8 years. Chelsea will be 26 in December, and Ryan will turn 25 in January.

Coming together under the same coaches and training environment in Irvine is surely a helpful factor in Liu/ Bedard's good showings. There's a lot of buzz about the Liu/ Bedard partnership after their debut performances. I will link some related articles in the U.S. pairs thread.

Yeah, I had to look it up last year as well (because of Mrazkova/Mrazek) with the same result. Both are correct, ISU uses Czech Republic.

Shin/Nagy still on the entry list...I don't think we will see another team than them at the Qualifier. Jackie Wong said in his podcast that it was determined at Champs Camp who would be sent, and apparently Audrey and Balazs skated quite well there...

So John Nicks event results are not being factored in at all. 🤔

I am from Czech Republic and I also use Czech Republic.. ;) "Czechia" is a newly created nonsense by politicians.
It's also a language thing. We have called the country Czechia (or rather in Dutch 'Tsjechië') ever since it came into being in 1993, even though acknowledging the offical term was and is 'Czech Republic' (or, in Dutch, 'Tsjechische republiek'). Not newly but older created nonsense then.....

No both miss out. This is by design ;). It would certainly be the great Olympic gold in figure skating history if an AIN skater can avoid all these booby traps and banana peels placed in front of them.
Is this for all countries or just AIN? I was wondering how injuries work…

Same in Russian.

No its just AIN.

The point is they are not representing a collective, they are only representing themselves. Adeliia and Gorbacheva are NOT on the same team, AIN means independent, NOT "team AIN". There are multiple AIN athletes, not one AIN team on the entry list by which everyone is in communion with one another. They are completely disconnected from their nation. So if one gets injured there is no "team mate" to replace them. Logically, it does make sense.

@dorispulaski or anyone—has anyone heard anything about a stream? I suppose it’s too much to ask for that Peacock cover it in the US (even though an Olympic spot in Pairs is on the line)

I think it's going to be on the ISU YouTube channel. Whether it will be geo-blocked is another issue.

I don't see any of the streams posted yet. Canada is usually pretty good about not geo-blocking.
