Dang Sophie's SP kept her from at least a Silver medal good that she held it together for the FS though. I still wish she would lower the jump content a bit and work on other parts of her skating and try to skate cleaner programs.

At 13/14? Absolutely. At 16/17? Definitely not.

Sophie probably screwed herself out of a place in the final by going for the 3A in the short. Honestly dumb of her team when the minuscule score increase it gives isn't even worth it

This was a tough competition though. Von Felten probably thought she did enough, then Kim has the skate of her career, the 13 year old Japanese was incredible but not quite enough, then the Slovak with the skate of her life as well.

Brilliant competition! Loved it!

This was a pretty interesting final flight. I think the Japanese girl was quite interesting but her packaging wasn't the best. She was approaching her 4th jump, and she's already done more choreo than some women do in a whole program. But Peter Pen in a green dress, underrotations, stuff to work on. Look at Alica, that's a classy look. And some tenacity. Still, a very good skater. She was so glad seeing her score, and then got worried.

At the end this was probably the best JGP stage of the season, the last group was really head and shoulders above the overal level I've seen before.
