Von Felten set a solid score that would normally win, yet all the skaters after her held their nerve.
Yet she has a max 7 triple program with two Lutzes and two Flips.Very good skate by Alica
I just don't get 2Lz, that's intentional, she did it in her previous skate too.
Instead of the 2Lz she could have done a 2A that would be +1,2 in BV
But then instead of 3Lz+2A+2A she could have done 3Lz+2A+2Lo, but that would be -1,6 in BV.
So, she actually gains +0,4 in BV by doing the 2Lz.
Crazy, I've never seen anything like it.

I got you. Heh, I’ve been doing math since last week’s JGP. There are three qualifiers so far Kim, Oka, and Okada. Shimada goes up against two Korean silver medalists next week. Even with a fourth place, Kamizawa should still qualify - I think 15 + 9 beats 13+11 - if a Shimada-Korea-Korea podium happens next week.
Even with a silver, von Felton was actually unlikely to qualify, if both Kim Yujae and Kamizawa were on the podium. And Kim winning instead of Kamizawa was actually the worse case scenario! Kamizawa got a fourth here, but I don’t think that makes a difference being that she has a gold and wins a tiebreaker. Only a gold would have guaranteed von Felton a spot in the JGPF.
In the SP yes. In the SP her 3A 3T earned 770. In the FS the 3A2T earned 1070. It's a much safer bet and she does it really well. That choice would have given her the Silver.
Dibbern is a skater for the future for sure. She reminds me a bit of a young Alina Gorbacheva...

Kim Yujae brought flower crown during victory ceremony and she did it actually twice now, first time being last year in Ostrava

Absolutely one to watch for the future...look out once she gets those skating skills up.
She confirmed in an interview that she will do Seniors.

Just caught up. I only watched the last group + Wada, but I agree that this was the best JGP this season.
I enjoyed all six girls, but I really, really liked Lengyelova. This was the first time I seen her skate and I was very pleasantly surprised. She lacked speed, but she was also soothing and paid deep attention to what she was doing on the ice. She had very lovely body movements, especially in the choreographic sequence. If you’re slower, then this aura of calm and patience is what the skater should be shooting for. Her free skate was a treat to watch.
I wasn’t so surprised by Dibbern. I had my eye on her for a bit and Switzerland gals in general.
von Felton can definitely work on her expression, but I appreciate the height she gets on her 3As. And her consistency on them. It should be interesting to see how she’ll fit in with US women next season.
Much deserved win from Kim. Her 3A was the best I seen her land so I’m glad she got higher GOES. She (and her sister) seem to be getting consistent on the jump too. The rest of her jumps look better too. As does her PCS. She’s improved her expression quite a bit from previous seasons and the music is great for her.
…I’m worried about Wada and I’m not talking about her results because she actually didn’t skate badly in her GPs. The scores make it look worse than it actually was and I’m getting Thorngren deja vu and that makes me deeply uncomfortable.

I watched Kaoruku on up. I mostly came here to offer my support and appreciation to the skaters of Week 6, so I'll keep complaining and worrying to a minimum.
Elizabeth Dibbern was amazing. I sort of doubted she would repeat medal at this event, but she showed herself to be credible medal material. She comes away from the JGP with a medal and a respectable PB. I thought both of her programs were beautiful as well
I thought Sumika's presentation was better at her last event, but more success with the tech nets her a new PB (which she looked very happy about). Another skater who gets a PB and no medal. I'm sure she wanted a medal, but she's going on to the GPF so I can't be sorry for her.
Sophie Joline was epic! She gets another fully rotated 4S at an ISU event ratified, and this time with both full 3A. She has far more performance throughout compared to last year. That -GOE on the quad though

are these judges' standards for positive GOEs, they took a fairly normal looking jump and gave it a negative when they could have just reduced the GOE at most. And the judge who gave her choreo sequence a negative GOE before she even did it. Not a good look - for the judges. Anyway, she gets a new PB I wish I could have been there to throw Sophie a crown of red roses because the little bouquet some kind person gave her looked so good with her dress. 
Another person I appreciate is @NoNameFace for making the flower crowns for some of the skaters. I'm sure you heard Mark mention you by name!
Yujae sure makes 3A look ridiculously easy, which judges like, but height and length are supposed to matter as well. If Yujae's small 3A can get 2.4 GOE, then Sophie's easy high ones should, too. Congrats to Yujae on ANOTHER personal best for this event and punching her ticket to the final for her first time. About time! I like talking about anything to do with the Lord of the Rings, so I'll take this opportunity to point out for interested persons that (surely someone was interested) that Yujae is the first skater I know of to skate to music from Rings of Power, the Amazon streaming series. It's the 3rd track, the theme for Numenor. Rings of Power has a lot of great music composed by Bear McCreary, and I hope other skaters take note. Her first track is Aniron, an Elven love song from The Fellowship Ring, and 2nd track is May it Be, from the end credits of The Fellowship of the Ring. Both are sung by Enya. More LOTR programs, please!
This season sure is different for whatever reason. A skater who isn't from Korea or Japan has won the bronze at each JGP event so far, and here the silver went to Slovakia. This is a huge increase in medal diversity from 2022 when I started watching the JGP, and even from last year. It's also the first JGP in that time with no Japanese on the podium.
100%, I agree with this and I don't like it one bit. I can see her UR sometimes but I honestly cannot see what is so much worse about her skating than last year.

My last post got too long, so this one is dedicated to Alicia Lengyelova who came out of nowhere with two beautiful programs. I think Alicia is in her 2nd JGP season. She has a sister, Olivia, who has been doing JGP since 2022. I know I've watched at least one of them before. I remember thinking that her individual elements looked good, but like most skaters on the JGP she just couldn't get through a program without falling. Well the stars aligned and it happened for Alicia. I'm a bit shocked. Hopefully her silver will inspire other girls from small skating nations.

Like last season, there are only three spots taken coming into the final stage, but the circumstances are very different. JGPF is very likely to be 4 Japanese, 2 Korean. That’s the make-up of the JGPF unless Shimada and Shifrin go 1-2 in any order and Shifrin beats Korea in a combined total tie-breaker if one of them gets a bronze and she wins silver.
Kamizawa with 24 points (15+9) will only fail to qualify if three skaters score above her as she beats any silver + bronze combo in a tiebreaker. So the podium has to be Korea(28)-Korea (26)-Shimada (26), or Shifrin(26)-Korea(26)-Shimada(26). In other words, Shimada, a skater who has been undefeated for three seasons, has to lose and lose to two skaters. This is….unlikely to happen. Ideally, there will be two qualifiers next week.
I don’t think there’ll necessarily be a Shimada-Korea-Korea podium and there are skaters that can play spoiler and I’m betting on Kushida or Bath. But spoilers will only block someone in the running from qualifying; they won’t qualify themselves. The other three medalists can all be off the podium and that will only result in Shimada being the only qualifier from the competition, in which case Kim Yuseong qualifies with her sister and it’ll still be…. 4 Japanese and two Korean.
