2025 Cup of China Rhythm Dance

Happy that Z/K got this opportunity to shine.
Dance usually has the least movement but this olympic season anything can and will happen I did not see the rise of ZK. But it is early A month ago or so the French / Canadian team looked like LL but not LALA were going to make a huge move but last week we saw no. I expected Smart and Diaz to make a move this season but it has slowed. Gullaume and Laurence look like they have the momentum right now. The Italians look like they are dropping but the Olympics are in Italy. Z/K looked really fast and polished. Madison is a personality. She is a diva she is the Alexis Carrington/Erica Kane diva. They demand attention regardless. I am a bit surprised Madi and Evan weren't sharper here even though it is their first event and they usually do better at the end unlike Piper and Paul.

Choreography at the start isn't my style, but they are really getting into it.

Music isn't my taste either.

Twizzles out of sync.

Sorry that I'm not commenting more about what they did. I'm no good at identifying elements, and the writing on the new TES box is too small to read without pausing the stream and going up close to the TV screen. And I don't want to get behind.

OK. Chris just said that the unison on the Twizzles was good. My glasses must need cleaned.

Awwww. I'm sure your parents love you so much too, Emilea.

They are delighted with the scores! Hugs all round!

They go into the lead.

:cheer: WELL DONE EMIELA AND VADYM!!! :cheer:

  :points:

Definitely!

But I bet that a certain somebody will still constantly put her down and say she isn't good enough for Vadym. 😞

I think they were overscored. The Italians were punished by the judges for having slow music in between the two faster numbers and somehow here it's OK? I just want the judges to be consistent over competitions. They were good but not over 80 good.

It feels like except for the top spot the judges rewarded strength and energy. It's been a minute since Tessa/Scott and Charlie/Meryl were dominating with speed, strength, energy and a wide range of music program choices.

Lopareva appeared a little unsteady on that twizzle sequence. Something has just appeared off about L/B ever since Boston Worlds. They appear slower and just unsure of themselves, like they’re getting too much in their own heads. It’s sad to see!
I agree, Lopareva seemed almost like she was unsure of the choreo at times, hesitant. Did the return of Laurence and Guillaume throw them off that much? I love them though.

Madison looked like she was lacking stamina today. Jet lag or maybe some flu or something that has cropped up. She looked unsteady to me. I don't like the music transition from American Woman into I'll fly away. It's jarring, too brusk. I also don't like that the ISU allows covers of songs not originally from the 90s for the RD. If they are covers of a song that was originally released in the 90s, then fine but this was written by The Guess Who (Burton Cummings) and released in 1970. The vibe is 70s. It shouldn't be allowed. My two cents.

C/B RD worked as a Lenny Kravitz medley with little of the title song American Woman which for me was rather disappointing but I love the dance overall. I was curious about their costumes expecting a bit of the RW&B but her dress/hair were stunning very ‘90’s. Guess Who is the best of course.. Amazing song! First time out for C/B; they are known for refining as they go along and I bet they will have surprises for us performance wise as we move through the season.
Posting the original song
For anyone interested:

They have IAM behind them so I wouldn't be surprised they re do the RD. They want gold and they have always ended up on top even with errorrs They will not be denied gold is their attitude. ZK are really letting the rest of the USA they are desirous of an olympic berth.

I don't watch ID but I did today - just Chock and Bates. Look, if you're going to skate to Lenny Kravitz, hit it hard. I need more energy from those two in this program. The skating was leisurely.

I enjoy ice dance but they didn’t deserve 1st place. Olivia Tim and the 2nd place team have more energy than they do. They look slow, like you say leisurely. Honestly at times I find them a bit boring. I don’t get why they are placed so high. They even won a medal on a fall a few years ago.

Rewatching, Z/K are fast and sharp. The ending is super fast but the arms are not sloppy or whippy without hitting positions. Coming out of the gate this season ready to nab an Olympic spot if they can. Probably can.

I loved both French teams and it sucks that there aren't more Olympic spots, because all three top French male skaters are divas, and their partners are talented and interesting. L/B did well, just need a bit more freedom/authority and vibes because they are fabulous.

Also, is there any other ice dance team currently competing whose music is edited to make the team seem more powerful on the ice than C/B? I don't like a massive number of music cuts because it feels disjointed. However, their music choices sound "muscular and power-chorded," if you will, and definitely shows them in a better light than some of the other teams that are their contemporaries.

Zingas and Kolesnik were really good, she has improved so much over the last few years. Their skate was the highlight for me. The two French teams were impressive too.

Chock and Bates looked really slow to me, the score was way too high for such a laboured effort IMO.

I'm super happy for Z/K! Wow, they really made a statement with their placement! I hope they can follow it up tomorrow with a solid FD.

Re: Madi & Evan - it definitely looked like the first time running the program in competition. A little slow, a little tentative, a little careful, but as per their usual, I expect they will vastly improve the program throughout the season. (I love her dress!)

Evan Bates has too much of a goody two shoes vibe for that music. You need someone who you feel like would have no shame in unzipping and flopping it down on the table in front of everyone.
