2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Article on Kemp/Elizarov ahead of their Senior debut this week:

Get that third lift 💪
“Kemp and Elizarov declined a media interview ahead of their departure for Austria, preferring to stay focused on the task at hand.” 😳😳😳

This quote has made me love them even more. This is clearly my favourite Pairs team in the world right now ❤️

Getting discouraged in our ladies again. Lat year I started to get my hopes up, but they have been dashed again. So often one or 2 show great promise then they lose it. They have 1 or 2 good events then can't seem to follow it up. Fiona won bronze at National then fell apart afterwards. She even started to show promise in Pairs and now nothing. Fee Ann also had some good results and looked like she might do something.... now she is missing in action. KMS showed promise last year but so far this season has been terrible for her. Kaiya also has not lived up to her promise. Even our Jr Ladies are following suit. Quinn just won a bronze medal at the Icechallenge with a pretty good score but I will wait to see if she can keep it going. But Megan, Sandrine and Hetty, who all showed some promise earlier, did not do well. And needless to say Maddie has had her worse season so far. Wonder if she should WD from her next event to concentrate on fixing whatever is going wrong. Worse part is once you start to have these bad results they stick with the judges and your scores, even when you skate well suffer.

That's the sport though... Injuries. All these women have had many injuries. The only ones who seem healthy relatively in that list are Sandrine and Maddie. Sandrine is a nervous skater. She wants it too much. I am not sure if Maddie wants it too much or if it's another kind of pressure she is dealing with. Sometimes, I feel that Maddie is a perfectionist and if a tiny little thing doesn't go her way, she cannot remain committed or focused.

Kemp Elizarov won a medal at Ice Challenge. Their first international senior medal. They also earned their 4CC and Worlds minimums.

Add them to the list of Canadian skaters medaling first internationally before they win a medal at nationals (senior)
They were also grossly underscored.

In both GOE and PCS. It was like they were actively trying to prevent them from getting the mins for worlds

Hopefully, they do well in the FS.
Yes... that's the real deal here... but at the same time, in order to have a competition with two good skates, the SP must at least be good... so check box one for that part.... :). Gabby : it will depend on whether she is trying 3lz-3t or not. I don't like that layout for her. I have a feeling she is no longer trying it because she did the lutz in the SP and she used to do the flip there... probably to insert the lutz combo in the SP... but yeah... it will be interesting.

Daleman looked very good. Ruiter skated well, but had a clear under-rotation on the combo. At the very least Gabby will be pushing everyone at Nats

Messing was a mess. Nuf said.

Kemp/Elizarov I continue to love more every time out. Would be great to see them as our #3 team in seniors

I am "crying"; I really wanted Keegan to pull out all stops but he is not skating well. I don't even think he has his triples back. I don't think he has another competition which I think he needs like do the Santa Cup or something. He haa got to get the quads back. He is a great pc skater thoughI admit. Wonderful performance level As for the ladies things have gotten so so bad that Canada's hope might actually be a lady who was at the top of her game in 2017. Come on Gabby Daleman bring it. I might even suggest go back to the old freeskate that got her a world bronze. With Schizas, SMD, Katherine, Kaiaya, et al not really bringing it GAbby is not a bad choice. I woldn't think she woudl be competitive but she is. Mind you she has to show she can last the freeskate.

Gabby 181, Kaiya 172 won gold and silver at Ice Challenge.

Gabby fell on the opening lutz but then went to land everything she could land. Her flip was gigantic.

I am still unsure about that layout because I prefer the 3t-3t version for her but it's okay. I will deal with it.

I am just so so so happy that she is back after everything she's been through.

So, so far this season Gabby has the highest score for the CAN ladies, SMD is next then close behind is Kaiya. And all 3 are ahead of Maddie's best. In fact Kaiya has scored better then Maddie twice now. Or have I missed something?

I think Gabby may have as well at October Ontario Sectionals. (I don't remember the score so I could be wrong)
The biggest score this season for a Canadian woman, also at domestic event though, is Minsol's from this weekend's Ontario Sectionals.

The next step is for Skate Canada to send Gabby out to a Challenger. Golden spin is, I believe, the possibility.

Do you think it is a real possibility that Skate Canada would consider sending Gabby to the Olympics?
