British National Championships, 26-30 November 2025

Another very different "Aladdin" programme. Skater #21 Faith FREEMAN (BIllingham) was wearing a purple dress, and skating to an Spanish version of "Arabian Nights".

Raúl Carballeda - "Noches De Arabia"

I really enjoyed it!

She goes into 20th position.

You know, it's funny when you know exactly what somebody is going to skate to as soon as you see them. And that is what happened with the final skater, Isla FORSYTH (Magnum), who was skating to "Larrons En Foire" by Raphaël Beau. (Never knew what it was called until there now!)

There was a girl in Basic Novices yesterday skating to the same music, and her costume was identical, except that the stripes on her top were red whereas Isla's were blue.

She was good.

She goes into 7th position.

We stay with the Advanced Novices, but move from the girls SP to the boys FS.

Warming up to "Year 3000" by Busted!

We start with Basic Novice Pairs skater William SANDELANDS (Oxford), who is wearing all black and doing a "Romeo And Juliette" programme.

In a way, it seems surreal that he is using this as his Singles music. Surely it would tell the story better in Pairs.

Unfortunately, he had a fall.

Sitting on his own. It would have been nice if Ellie May had been sitting with him.

He goes into the lead. Obviously.

Lewis MACDONALD (Magnum)'s programme had a bit of everything in there! If I say that it went from Richard Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" to Daft Punk, it will give you an idea.

He was wearing a white and black top, with black trousers.

It was different, but it was good!

He goes into a massive lead in both the FS and overall.

Callum GILCHRIST (Dundee) was wearing a white shirt and black trousers. He was skating to Muse's cover of "Feeling Good".

Sorry, but I don't like that version.

He skated it well, though.

He goes into 2nd position in the FS, but wins overall.

Junior Ladies doesn't start until about 1h 5m from now.

In the meantime, we have the Podium Ceremony for the boys we just saw, and then a dinner break.

Except that I've had my dinner.

So, after this Podium Ceremony, I think I'll go back to Istanbul and watch their Advanced Novice Men's SP that I missed earlier.

Advanced Novice Men's Podium Cermony starting now.

(Sorry this was late. I accidentally posted this in the wrong thread, and then had to wait 30 seconds).

See. I don't understand this. Why do they play the British anthem on the podium at the British Championships, when it is the same for everybody competing? Why not play the anthem of the actual country of the UK that they are from? So that it is more specific to the skater.

Ah good! They are now playing "Flower Of Scotland" after it! :cheer:  :points:

We return from the dinner break to finish the day in teh company of the Junior Ladies SP.

Right, they put the mute on when the Spice Girls started singing during the Warm-Up.

I was worried that they might forget to put the sound back on at the end of the Warm-Up, but they remembered.

And when the music started for Mia CRAIG (Dundee), I was kinda wishing they hadn't.

"Tango De Roxanne" :rolleye:

Anyway, Mia was wearing a beautiful black dress, with a Paul Poirier style hole in the back.

Oh, no. She's crying. Not how you want to start the competition, with a skater in tears.

:ghug:

Back now from the resurfacing for the final two groups.

Unfortunately, I will probably not see the last few skaters, as it'll be tea-time. And no doubt the stream will disappear while I'm away.

If they could at least leave it up for a few hours afterwards, it would make all the difference...

You're not going to miss spotting Alice SMITH (Romford) in her Dyno-Rod coloured dress!

Doing a "Chicago" programme. And I do wonder if it is appropriate for a girl as young and tiny as Alice doing this style of programme. She was trying to play the part, and it just looked awkward.

Unfortunately, she had a fall.

But, she still goes into the lead.

Hang on, I just had a thought. Are Layla Alena REAY (Whitley Bay) who we just saw and Lola REAY (Billingham) who we saw in Advanced Novices earlier, related?

Let's face it, the two clubs are not that far apart.

Layla is wearing a gorgeous Indian style blue dress with red sash. And skating to "The Groove You Liked (Mala Dub)" by Savanj Rooms.

Unfortunately, she had falls on her first two elements.

She goes into 10th position.

I was just in time to catch the end on my bus home, a brief glimpse of Mya Milne showing off her flexibility and then a lovely performance from Darya Dalgich.

I believe she has been recovering from a bad back injury, she stuck to doubles here but she was clean, and looked very happy to be in third place! Happy for her.

Thanks for the reports all day keeping us up to date!

Senior Dance starts tomorrow afternoon everyone!

Starting and finishing a day earlier so Lilah & Lewis can go to the GPF in Japan. 🎉🎊

Good Luck to all the couples! 😍💕💕💕👏👏👏

I wonder if they'll do this for everyone? And what will they do if a Pair or Dance team are from different nations? And will the English skaters get Jerusalem or I Vow To The My Country as they play in the Commonwealth Games when English athletes win gold?

It's a conundrum! 🤔🥰

I saw this notification on the Sportity page:

I wonder what the problem was. And if the correction resulted in any changes of position.
