British National Championships, 26-30 November 2025

Ukrainian girl Amelia GUMENYUK (Swindon) was wearing a beautiful black dress with silver pattern. And skating to a beautiful orchestral version of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters".

The skating was beautiful too.

I was impressed with Amelia yesterday, and I was impressed with her again today.

I think she's disappointed.

My "kid" Zoe Jones with her arm around her. And giving her some re-assuring words.

She goes into 5th position in the FS, and 3rd position overall.

Isla FORSYTH (Magnum) was wearing a white blouse and orange skirt. And doing a... Charlie Chaplin programme?!

Not what I would have imagined when I saw her outfit.

She's doing some silly dancing in the results area during the replays! :laugh:

Well, her cousin won the 🥈 Silver Medal in Advanced Novice Men yesterday. Where will Isla be going into the final group?

The lead of both the FS and overall, that's where!

No, just checked, it's Tori Kelly. From the film "Sing" (which is really good!)

Followed by a bit of "The Sweet Escape" by Gwen Stefani. Boys, but it has been years since I heard that song!

Wow! That was seriously big music. And seriously good skating to it!

I want to see more programmes to this!

Leni WATSON (Swindon) is also wearing a black dress. But she is skating to "Without You" by Ursine Vulpine and Annaca

Zoe with her arm around her too. But this time it is because it is a happy skater.

Leni is delighted when her scores are announced!

Alexa RIDDOCH was wearing a blue dress. Skating to "Prelude and Opening Titles" by Carl Davis, from "The Rainbow"

She was good. And very excitable afterwards.

Well, I don't have to look up what Rose COOKSON-HOARE (Nottingham) was skating to. We've heard this music often enough the past couple of years! It was a "Dune" programme.

And she was wearing a suitable dress of brown rags.

You all know what I tend not to like "Dune" programmes. But, she skated it well.

I don't suppose you know what times the schools close in Sheffield, do you? I hope it's 3 o'clock. I want the rowdy kids in the audience to have to go back to school soon so that they can be picked up and taken home!

We go from a "Dune" programme to a "Cats" programme, courtesy of Polina GELUN (Romford). "Macavity" followed by "Memory"

I love her costume. Full suit and tails, with one of those ruffled shirts. And her hair in the obligatory double buns.

She was good.

Oh, I didn't realise we were onto the last skater already. This competition has flown through!

Samanta SILINS (Lee Valley) was wearing a dress that was royal blue on the right hand side, and faded to white on the left hand side.

She was skating to an absolutely beautiful piece of music played by the piano and strings section.

That was beautiful.

She had a lead of just under 3 points going into this. But her avantage over the current leader was jsut over 4 points. And I think she might just extend it.

She looks very worried.

No need to. She goes into 2nd position in the FS, but wins overall!

What a reaction! She wasn't expecting that at all!

Right, back at 10 past the hour for our first trip into the 90's, courtesy of the Senior Dancers.

Yes, we're running behind schedule.

I'm going back to Istanbul to watch a few more of the boys that were on after I switched to Sheffield.

What a shame about the fall! The rest was fun. Surprised by how much I enjoy Freddie as an ice dancer, is that weird to say?
 
When I heard the camera shutters at the start of Layla KARNES / Freddie LEGGOTT (Nottingham)'s programme, I thought "Oh, no. Not another 'Vogue' programme". But, it was anything but!

"This Is How We Do It" by Montell Jordan, followed by "Cotton Eyed Joe" by Rednex. Not two songs I would ever think fo putting together! :laughL

Layla is wearing a black blouse that has shrunk in the wash, and a black mini skirt. Freddie is wearing a blue (denim?) shirt, and black trousers.

I was just doing a bit of digging, trying to find out what club Layla was affiliated to, and I didn't know she was also doing Solo Dance! Or that she won Senior Nationals last season!

Good start to the competition.
