Come back stronger in the free, Rion, show us those great 4Ts you landed in practice 💪

A gorgeous program by a gorgeous skater, but the jumps 😭. Sending hugs to Rion, poor girl looks to be in complete shock :ghug:

Oh dear, a heartbreak for Rion, two major mistakes and no combo :( I hope she qualifies and makes a strong comeback in the free.

Mao Shimada's interview after SP:

"I never expected to receive such a high score after my performance. I'm happy that I was able to finish with a smile. (I plan to include a triple axel and a quadruple terrestrial telescope in the free skate.) I'll make sure to adjust them properly tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, and hope to land them in competition. I think that receiving this score and being able to perform like this is a miracle in itself. The free skate is the real 'miracle,' so I want to create a miracle that is unique to me."

Oh Rion :( I wonder if she's injured from her rough last GP outing, she didn't look confident with her jumps 🥺

Still kudos to her for still performing the StSq so beautifully despite the jump mistakes, it was ethereal 💙

Even when she was a Jr, Rion had a pattern of overcompeting during summer and early in the season then by Sectionals and (Jr) Nationals she would be injured or simply burnt out

Sad bc she started this season out strong and with so much momentum

Well, at least she made the FS and has a chance for redemption

The Japanese to English translation is hysterical.

I would love to know what the point value is for a quadruple terrestrial telescope.

😭 I love you Kaori, I think she was really emotional for this entire program (just like me). The crowd was the loudest I've maybe ever heard (outside of Yuzumania, of course) for her before her program 😭 she's become so beloved, I'm going to miss her skating so much.

Kaori!!! I'm sure JSF will give her 80, if not 81

That yellow box on her stsq though - tech panel, are you just looking for an excuse to rewatch Kaori's glorious edgework again :laugh4:
