Will the judges dump Madi? I think the problem is no one this year has taken the lead. Sarah, Katherine, Gabby have had their chances. So Skae Canada is going to have a tough decision who to send. If Schizas wins that makes it easy as she is the defending champion and overall has skated while not great as well or better than the rest.. I would be very very worried if Sarah or Katherine have the skate of their life because I am not sure how reasonable it is to assume they will replicate it at Olympics. I guess SC can try to look at the future with Lulu and Kwon for interest but they aren't Oly eliigble I believe.

Katherine has been injured and is not back to the shape she demonstrated last year. Even with her challenger win, she's not really showing a great body of work. Sara- Maude has a better record but is still not getting much love from the judges on GOE and PCS. Gabby can get higher GOE and good PCS but her comeback still is not showing consistency. It's really up to Madeline to punch her tickets. She has it in her own hands. Anyone else depends really on Maddie not being able to deliver a stable enough performance. If Maddie is off the podium with disaster skates, it may happen that skate Canada sends someone else... But it will take a lot of things to align properly for anyone else than Maddie to punch that ticket. What is interesting me is the 4CC and the JWC selections as we'll as potentially WC selection. A bad performance from Maddie at Nationals may lead to Skate Canada splitting Olympics and Worlds between two women.

I can’t see them sending Katherine period.. Sara I could. I also think possibly depending how nationals is skated they may send the top 3 to 4cc to make a decision too if they’re all close.

There won't be a 4CC skate-off. They didn't include 2026 4CC in the Olympics selection criteria (but did for Worlds) and specified the qualification period would end January 11, 2026. Debra Armstrong already said in an interview that 4CC and Olympics would very likely be split. If it's close, they'll go to the body of work.

Oh ok. Interesting . But I guess that’s a close cut off for the event.

Do we know if Madeline is doing lion king or going to a new one? And does anyone know what she’s skating to if she qualifies Olympics for the short program?

I concur. If Sara nails both here programs and the 3A, I’d say the spot is hers

Short of that, it’s Maddie’s to lose. I don’t see Katherine as a viable option, Kaiya just isn’t there yet, and after seeing Gabby give up on her program at SCC I’m not real interested in sending her to any major competitions either

No way are they sending the top 3 to 4CC to fight it out since the Olympics will be less then two weeks away and whoever is being considered for the team is not going to compete at 4CC.

Yeah you are correct. Skate Canada is naming the team right after nationals. They are not sending anyone to 4CC to make a decision on who is on the team. Going to be a very interesting nationals for women!

One thing I would like to happen is since that Benoit Richaud is there with Stephen Gogolev.
I would be happy if Uliana Shiryaeva meet Benoit Richaud and work with him for her free skate La terre vue du ciel to make it work like Adam Siao Him Fa.

Before the short starts, this is the information about what is going on with the Lion King (from Robert Brodie):
But beyond that little moment of bravado, there was this piece of happy news (which we’re guessing no doubt fuels that sentiment, at least in part) — “The Lion King” is cleared for takeoff to Milan. Well, most of it. The short program music that Schizas and her coaching team had pretty much written off for the Olympics — she had told us back in the spring the price tag to clear it was “exorbitant” — is suddenly ready to roar once again.

“It was after I did sectionals (in the fall) with our younger skaters. I took a four-day trip to Aruba and on the plane, I got an email from Debra (Armstrong, Skate Canada’s CEO) saying they were able to clear the second and third pieces of music, right out of the blue,” said Nancy Lemaire, Schizas’ coach at the Milton Skating Club, who used “a huge relief” to describe her reaction to that rather important piece of news.

“We were actually thinking we were going to have to go back to ‘The Black Swan’ (they had plans to use older versions of music by Tchaikovsky; the version they had used earlier in the season had not received music rights clearance). It’s a huge relief.”

“A happy surprise,” Schizas called it.

The opening section of music in the program, which lasts about 35 seconds, didn’t receive the go ahead. But there is already a Plan B in place for that part of the program, to complete the circle of its life, if you will.

“We’re still looking at the first piece, the first 35 seconds, but we’ve offered up a couple of different options, and the guy who works for Skate Canada clearing music is looking into it,” said Lemaire.

Enzo at the boards!

(there's going to be a dog in the kiss and cry with Sandrine, the commentators spent the Junior events realizing they weren't a stuffie :D)
