Triple flip absolutely should have been under. Even the toe was on the quarter. Judges are being very kind at Nationals this yearMinsol

I wonder if Maddie, SMD, Gabby can even beat this? So good!!
can't wait to see her when she gets a little more power, and I hope she is able to keep the jobs as she grows. Well done

I saw an interview with Maddie on CBC where she didn't mince words at all. I believe she said that while she respected Gabrielle's come back efforts, over her dead body was she going to let anyone else go to the Olympics, LOL.
I thought, wow! Usually the women's skaters are so friendly, and do their best to come across as Meek and politically correct, and Maddie was shooting daggers,! I really hope she is able to take that attitude into her skating here and use it to launch her to two excellent programs.

Quite a contrast to the top ladies at US and Japanese Nationals.
Bit less warm and fuzzy. But, I love it because it will likely motivate Maddie. I think she needs a little pressure to skate her best.- Joined

You can totally tell why Gabrielle was a world medalist in the past, as she absolutely flies across the ice! She is absolutely top-notch when it comes to speed and power. As much as I love maddie, she really can't compete with Gabrielle in that area. Of course, with that speed and Power comes less consistency and a greater possibility for things to go wrong, but wow, her skills are undeniable.

Still a good introduction to Nationals, and gives the final group something to shoot for

well without the edge call, she would have received positive GOE so judges had to lower it. So it makes sense that it's not much lower as the jump was landed gracefully.

I know, I remember thinking, wow, this is very uncanadian lol! In the meantime you have the three American medalists having a Love Fest and just complimenting one another at nauseam down at us Nationals LOLQuite a contrast to the top ladies at US and Japanese Nationals.
Her longer-term opportunities would be limited in Korea because Jia Shin and the twins would be ahead of her.

I wish I was there to compare speed and ice coverage, because I was not that impressed with her at challenge to be honest - I thought that the skating skills and speed and power of the rest of the Canadian ladies really showed her up.

well.. they have 3 spots. We don't. Easy to be nice when you know that your two rivals and yourself all get the Milano tickets.
