Many students live in a dorm

fans are excited and athletes are tense

[We lived on the fringe of the UBC campus and my parents were both professors. I had a little used car of my own, but students parked off in a distant corner of the campus, so if the weather was bad I'd ride with my mother who taught in the same building as my classes and parked in the faculty's underground garage.]

And not a single snowflake among the rain in the Vancouver area. So far. I saw a weather prediction yesterday that claimed winter may hit us yet, in February.

At least the Canadian skaters going are all from Ontario and Quebec, so they're acclimatized . If a Connaught club skater had been chosen, he'd probably have packed extra T shirts and hiking shorts for wearing around the Olympic village.
