No, qualifying nations have the option of making 0, 1, or a maximum of 2 substitutions. Russia, for example, made no substitutions at the last Olympics in Beijing.

Yeah so Emily and Spencer have no chance at a medal. They could have done this segment and done no worse than E&D. And come home with a medal.

How did the Georgian male partner get that far without ever learning how to do clean Mohawks? I wouldn't let him put me up in even a basic baby lift! I'll watch the LP, but I'll look away and cringe when they're going in to a lift.

She lands jumps at a similar or higher rate to other pairs skaters. She needs to learn ( or more likely they need to learn together) how to be more reliable on throws.

The substitutions can't be mandated, since most feds have a hard time qualifying a single entry for all disciplines, let alone two.

She said that the women need to set up the path of the throw and the man needs to follow within that path.

She then said that Danny is ahead of Ellie in the path of the throw, sort of rushing her, hence the falls.

What is puzzling me is how nobody is fixing this since it's been a problem for a few seasons now.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing Sandra's take on it. Maybe they have been trying to fix it but for some reason on either part, some other factor is still preventing her landing cleanly?

I'm sure USFSA believes that Danny and Ellie have a better shot at picking up a placement than Emily and Spencer. I agree. They do have a better shot, although not a sure thing by any stretch. Still, anything can happen. We'll see.

it's actually similar with SBS jumps. Some partners were landing their jumps fine with a partner and cannot do it with another partner. Different entries, different jump technique etc.

If (and I am not saying that she is but wondering) she is thrown too hard, maybe she can only do one thing and that's collapsing on the landing ?
