What a Wow of a Women's final! Problem is, this is almost what I had expected, unless it had instead come out with Japan one point ahead of US, which is where my first thoughts lay. Team placements will be left up to the men, after all. Looking forward to 5 more great programs here. Am very glad to see both Kaori and Anastasiia in particular have such wonderful skates! Plus, Amber did okay under those circumstances...
🤣😂 Let's see what happens. You obv jonesing hard for Japan to win gold. I don't think Amber needs your faux sympathy. She did not do well under pressure circumstances. No doubt about that. Forget about the pity pats on the back. 🙄

Whoa! Schizas did well in the sp to help get Canada in the final in the first place! FGS! It was going to be a lingshot for Canada anyway. Wht didn't Canada send Gilles/Poirier out in the FD? Ask that question CBC!
Agree 100%. Bad, bad decision by Skate Canada with regard to ice dance. CBC also has a video of Trennt and Lia's program with the headline that they finished last in the Paris competition - yeah, but were less than five points out of second, and barely behind third and fourth, with an excellent state and a personal best score. I'm with those who believe that it's very unlikely that Deanna and Max would have done a whole lot better though they have a bit higher of a ceiling, I guess. Either way, not particularly generous headlines

I like everything about Lara Naki's program -- costume, musical theme, choreographic details. Tara Lipinski called it the chic shark. :)

So, for the U.S., after all the highs, lows and in-betweens it comes down to Malinin in the end.

All the US singles skaters have been a bit rocky. This technical panel called two of Alysa's four jumps in the SP. ( Deserved calls) There is no guarantee she would have brought 9 points either. No need to focus on Amber.
Who said there's a guarantee of anything at the Olympics? Too much overhype by U.S. media to begin with, as usual. Lots of pressure on all the athletes, btw, not just U.S. singles skaters. 🙄 It's not just about U.S. gains or losses anyway. It's about any athlete being able to live up to the pressure. Some do and some don't. The judging is sketchy, as usual, too, in some respects. Anyway, the outcomes have made for an exciting team event.

If you want to talk about U.S. medal gains, I'm pretty sure, U.S. athletes are doing very well overall in many sports. I am mainly watching figure skating and observing and having my opinions, which I will be sharing more of. 😉 To each their own perceptions and viewpoints.

Ice dance has not made any difference. You are five points away from bronze. Piper and Paul would not have been more than one point higher than LaLa were, and could well have have the same placement as LaLa got.

Actually the u s. Team did better than I thought.
The did do job. Just not as easy as I thought.
Amber could have finished lower she didnt. She actually held her nerves. She did well.
All them did.
I think team is pressure because skater want to help team while keep them healrhy.fo individuals

Yes that why I didnt want any of medal contenders to skate team . They could pace themselves for individual event.
Then I thought about them practicing every day. So why not.

It apparently always came down to Malinin, eh. 😉 But why forget to credit U.S. pairs team, Kam/O'Shea???! Too many people always tryin' to look down on U.S. pairs.

Also, give Chock/ Bates their brownie points. Without C/B's stellar efforts and high political perception status, coupled with Alysa managing to hold her own for 9 points in the sp, Ilia would have nothing to work with, eh!

Did they show a bunch of celebrities showing up for team final for men. Paul gasoline, Gucci. I forgot a few others. I am not sure. Last I loom it was hockey

I have made my piece with the US winning gold over Japan, but if Italy loses out on the bronze I will rebel.
🤣😂 Hold on to your seats. It's gonna be a rocky ride in the men's fp. I'm rooting hard for Italy, too. Whatever happens between U.S. and Japan, happens.
