What an amazing competition. Everything unexpected happened. The Olympic monster came for the top guns today... and a few others rose to the occasion.

I feel for the top guys, I really do. Ilia... it was a given, until it wasn't. This is the Olympics, a different beast... and while I feel for the front runners, I also enjoyed the competition because of it. It was just amazing to watch unfold, i had the feeling the unexpected was going to occur... and watching Shaidorov continue to rise, his face as each skater fell below him... I do enjoy the unexpected.

For Mikhail... the stars truly aligned. He skated his best and the Olympic
monster did the rest.
