Hi everyone,

I'm 37 years old (158cm / 51kg) and have been skating for about 4 years. My progress has been slow but steady.
I'm currently thinking of downgrading boots - from Chorus to Overture.

Current level:
Jumps: working on flip and lutz (toe jumps are still unfamiliar). low height of jumps
Spins: upright scratch spin achieved, working on back spin and sit spin. Hard to sit low in sit spin. Difficult to create strong RFI entrance and clean transition to BO edge for back spin.

Boots History
1) Risport Antares – used until toe loop and one-foot spin, never broke down, changed due to sizing.
2) RF3 Pro + Coronation Ace – felt stable and natural, but it was a little stiff for me, and width (C) was too narrow making persistent foot pain.
3) Edea Chorus + Coronation Ace – current setup (3 years).

With Chorus, I still feel stiffness and difficulty using my ankles. Sit spins feel restricted, and overall ankle flex feels limited.
I have a pair of Edea Overture (currently set up for inline) and I'm considering switching.

Given my age, weight, and jump level (single jumps only), would moving down to Overture help me improve ankle usage and spins? Or would it break down too quickly?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's not stiff enough and won't support you properly for the jumps etc that you are doing. You need to get used to gradual increase in stiffness of boots b/c that is what is needed in this sport.

Also, I question Risport RF3 pro being too narrow for you, yet you fit Edea fine.

What is your foot type? Arches: very high/high/normal/low/flat?

Overture would be gone quickly. I am your skill level, 46 kg, 160cm, and I got Choruses today. Even with those, I am afraid that they might be too weak, but I don't know. I think you need to stick with a similar level boot.

Maybe stick with Risport RF3 in a wider width? I don't really know much about the wider widths because I am an AA width, sorry!
