I think there is something in her head and she just can't find a way to get rid of it. Still hoping the best.
Maybe she knows she is not such a surefire medallist many expect her to be. I don't rate her even the best American, Japanese trio is crazy strong, and then there's Petrosian as a joker card...she's kinda booked for 4th place, if this was ice danc pro wrestling.

This was a well-skated event. The Japanese ladies brought it and are 1-2 and four, which is a great place to be. I can’t wait to see how Nakai handles being the final skater going into the free skate.
I'm nervous for Ami now, hope she puts on some earphones before her skate and just focuses on what she can do. I really want her to medal!

Levito getting a 'q' on the perfectly fine Triple Loop and no call on the 3Toe, LOL.

The callers aren't even trying to measure rotation. They're just going by how smooth the landing looks. So they see Chiba for example landing flatter on the blade and needing to do a minor adjustment and they call it as 'q', when she's landing past the 1/4 mark. Very frustrating.

Amber drills more jumps than anyone else in practices and sometimes I wonder does she leave her best jumps on the practice ice. I didn’t see her double a loop any day in practice these last 2 weeks; ugh, it’s so frustrating!

I feel like anyone from places 6 - 11 could've had that 6th spot
with slightly different skating order or judging panel combinations

Or of course if they hadn't introduced Qs

The entire audience? I doubt it. Japan is skating crazy. Surely they would cheer for their own.
There simply aren't as many Japanese now willing to pay for the trip and the tickets, not even for Kaori.

I just thought, Amber may not be in a place to win but she could do a Chen 18 and bring an absolute blinder of a free now that she has nothing to lose.

I'm guessing Amber would have been in 4th if clean, somewhere in the 74-75 range? Really. She's about 9 points out of Bronze position. Ya never know. Anything can happen with a fantastic skate, Lol. But plenty of those near the top would have to struggle.

Also, do we like that a double gets 0 points in a short program (and not 2-3 or so) ?

I wonder if Alysa will skate to Lady Gaga or Donna Summer. I honestly really like McArthur Park but who knows
