You're ignoring the fact that her GOEs on other elements decreased after the loop. She would have carried her usual speed and passion through the rest of the program if she hadn't doubled the loop. Her PCS would have also been at least a point higher.
Scratching my head about the doubled loop.

Why didn't she get any credit for it? She landed the jump even though it was only a double.

I'm not savvy about scoring at all
and would appreciate whatever insights that anyone can provide. :thank:

Update: question was answered below. Thanks all!

I'm surprised about how this event was scored. A lot of calls and little errors ... and they were visible (and audible), this little additional move going along with a slight underrotation and the scratching here and there ... and the wrong edges. Was about time but astonishing that it happened right here. And they did not spare anyone. But with two issues Sakamoto should not be so close to Nakai and her 3A, that "Lutz" (how she wants that element to be considered) was really not good and PCS quite generous given this skate; Liu and Chiba are a bit high as well. So sad for Glenn, she would have been in a very good position, this 3A was very good.

I’m confused, do you not get marks for a 2loop? Even if Amber got less marks, surely she could keep performing to make it up in PCS etc

Why was it practically as bad as a fall?
In the short program skaters have to complete a combination jump (3+3 or 3+2), a solo jump that must be a triple, and an Axel (double or triple). If the solo jump is doubled or singled, also known as a popped jump, it becomes an invalid element and receives 0 points.

I'd expect her PCS to be higher with a clean program as well

that hypothetical bump in PCS and GOE to the other elements if she executed a perfect loop with perfect absolute GOE would still have to be about 3 points which is just impossible. She already got 34+ PCS and the judges would have to bump it to 37+ which is even higher to what Sakamoto got.

A second but most likely 3rd place is a realistic one.

Oh sweet pea, Petrosian was scored accordingly. I for one am sick of Liu getting overscored. Liu to me just looks sloppy.
Jeez, you might be biased against her style, but it's anything but sloppy. To repeat an earlier post, her spins are fast and centered, and her step sequence is ethereal. Her jumps are unmuscled and secure and organic. I guess you can pick on her 'q" for the 3lz/3r, which no other woman is doing, and could have been called clean. It looked just as rotated as Gubanova's lutz.

Guys how are we not talking about Snoop Dog and Martha Stewart?? They had more air time than some of the skaters. Does anyone have videos of the performances they commentated on? Can the ISU hire them instead of the dreadful Irish/Scottish/whatever crap accent they have now? Like...I'm just so fascinated.
Well, don't get too close --- "On Wednesday (Feb. 11), the rapper and multi-hyphenate’s security detail allegedly got into it with Dutch speedskater Marianne Timmer, leading to Snoop being escorted out of the Milano Speed Skating Stadium after his security allegedly shoved Timmer while she waited to interview other athletes at the Games." https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ot...security-drama-at-winter-olympics/ar-AA1WktL8

I feel better now. Just got back from my psychiatrist and asked her if it was wrong to dream about the judge that gave Ami a 9th place in presentation in terms of crucifixition, tar and feathers and boiling oil, and she said "No", I was the third person that day that came to her with the same dream. 🤣

What time did Madonna send Amber a video message? I'll answer it. Just read it was before she skated.

No it isn't.

3F+3T with +2 GOE = 1.5 points gained (and she was getting +3's at the GPF, not just +2's)
3Lo with second-half bonus and +3 GOE = 6.9 points gained
Step sequence with +3 GOE = 1.1 points gained
PCS = 2 points gained with totally clean performance

She would be in 1st.

I just do not understand why so much hate towards Petrosian from some of the posters. You may not like her style, you may hate Eteri, you may not even like Adelia as a person ( fir whatever crazy reasons), but saying I hope she does not make, God forbids she wins it, or how ugly and atrocious her skate, it is too much. The girl had a bad injury to the point of giving up her spot, no international exposure, not getting her coach present until the last minute, skating in the first group, having a burden of being Russian. She has so much to overcome... Enjoy your favorite skiers, wish them to do well, the best girl to win, just keep your hateful comments to yourself. I will be happy if Kaori wins, my husband will br thrilled if Alusa wins. I do not think Adelia wins, but if she does it is not an end of the world.

This is the sort of drama the ISU needs to attract ratings and attention. And they need it...
Love SnoopDog and Martha, ISU go speak with them, make the commentators for Worlds.

I rewatched Kaori's skate a few times so I could enjoy it without nerves and I loved it more and more every time, her incredible skating skills were fully on display there. The step sequence was just magnificent.

Mone's skate was also even better on a rewatch, these two were in a tier of their own in terms of skating skills here.
