2025-26 Coaching, Country and Discipline Changes

This is sad for Deniss. 😢 Some fs podcasters have said this may have something to do with problems Deniss is having with Latvian fed, including decreased funding support. Or, it could be for a combination of reasons. Perhaps, he is interested in forging a fresh, independent path. I hope he's able to work out finding a new coach soon.

Skate Canada has confirmed to Robert Brodie that Minsol Kwon (Women, South Korea) has been released to compete for Canada domestically in his latest article (here):

The winner’s name in Barrie has also generated some chatter in skating circles. That would be Minsol Kwon, the 16-year-old South Korean who trains at the Granite Club in Toronto under the direction of Lee Barkell, Jeffrey Buttle and Jessica Wyant. And she’s not done competing in our country yet. Skate Canada confirms that Kwon has been released by the Korea Skating Union to compete domestically in Canada, meaning you should expect to see her at Skate Canada Challenge in Calgary in December and, if she qualifies, at 2026 Canadians in Gatineau, Que. (her winning score of 195.27 in Barrie surely suggests that will happen). While she isn’t cleared yet compete internationally for Canada (there’s much paperwork to complete there)

Now I can stop refreshing for the Skate Ontario sectionals entries every five minutes.

well... we got our answers though. Minsol will skate domestically for Canada, and when the paperwork is done, she will be able to compete internationally for Canada. I feel that's fair considering we gave Korea Lim and Quan :)

PS... that took a long time... or maybe the request was sent only recently... but it seems like it's been forever since the last time Minsol skated for Korea.

This became known a couple of weeks ago, but I decided to wait until I checked with one of her team-mates at the Denkova-Staviski club and got confirmation that this is what is actually happening before I did a post about it.

Junior Ladies skater Varvara ABRAMKINA has switched from 🇨🇾 Cyprus to 🇧🇬 Bulgaria.

Although she normally does the Bulgarian Championships as a guest skater, this time she was entered in the main Junior Ladies competition. And she won it by some margin.

For a more detailed analysis, see this post in the Cyprus thread:

Hope this helps

I accidentally found out when I clicked on his ISU bio that Andreas Nordeback has switched coaches from Mélanie Joseph and Christina Batian to Kevin Jasko and Tatiana Magnusson. 😮

Does anyone know any details about this?

Italian Ice Dance

Manni/Rhotlisberger switch from Luca Lanotte to Barbara Fusar-Poli and...Charlie White

Paolino/Tuba switched last month from Carol Lane/Juris Razgulajevs to Matteo Zanni and Stefani De Luca (De Luca is based on Rome where Tuba originally comes from and started skating)

Now that's a pairing I was never expecting to see...

^^ Well, it's nice to see that Charlie has landed somewhere. He's very talented as a coach and as a former ice dancer and skating commentator. Sorry for the Tanith & Charlie break-up, but life happens and some relationships sadly don't last. 😟
I'm confused....Charlie White is coaching with Barbara Fusar-Poli....and living in Italy???

Yes.

GS guidelines prohibit unsourced gossip, so I won’t.

Tanith has filed for divorce in publically available court records. That is all I know that is publically available. (that and that Charlie left MIDA. and the skaters who continued at MIDA no longer list him as their coach)
