A more detailed press report:
Seven Colantotte-sponsored skaters, including Shoma Uno and Yuma Kagiyama, are all here! Some of the skaters are even dreaming of a collaboration with Aimyon.
The ‘Colantotte × Figure Skaters Support Campaign 2026 – Connecting Dreams – Special Talk Event’ was held in Tokyo on 9 May, with figure skaters Shoma Uno, Yuma Kagiyama, Kao Miura, Kazuki Tomono, Sota Yamamoto, Kohiro Shimada and Rio Nakata taking to the stage.
This talk event featured skaters under contract with Colantotte Co., Ltd. In addition to reflecting on this season and discussing their aspirations for the future, the event included interactive segments with the audience, such as a ‘team competition’, offering a chance to see the skaters in a different light from their usual performances on the ice.
With an audience of around 500 people packed into the venue, as the show began, each skater emerged from a door at the back, weaving their way through the audience, and was immediately greeted with a huge cheer. Having recently signed a contract as a professional esports player, Uno remarked whilst watching the six skaters: ‘The paths we’ve taken over the past year have been so different that I thought I’d stand on the same stage as everyone else today.’ After the six had finished speaking, he reflected deeply: ‘Hearing everyone’s earnest comments makes me feel as though I’ve truly returned to the world of figure skating.’
When the segment turned to reflecting on last season, Uno—who has retired from competitive skating—looked back, saying, “It was a completely different season. It was an intense year for me, and I’ve grown to the point where I can speak without a script.” The other six spoke earnestly about their competitive season, and watching them, Uno smiled and remarked, “I think the appeal lies in the fact that even after battling it out for a whole year, we can still gather together like this.”
Next up was the ‘Flip Talk’ segment. When the conversation turned to Nakata’s current obsession with collecting perfumes, and Shimada’s comment about ‘going out for a meal with friends’, he revealed that he had actually gone out for a meal with Uno abroad, and that he was also close with Tomono—so much so that they once spent four or five hours chatting away in a udon restaurant. It was also revealed that the udon restaurant in question was Marugame Seimen, which caused a stir among the audience.
Yamamoto brought up the singer Aimyon, whom he is a fan of, and revealed that he even sings her song ‘Marigold’. The host tried several times to get him to sing it, but Uno gently stepped in to say, ‘It’s alright’. He then revealed that he had received a reply from Aimyon on social media and shared his plans, saying, ‘There are ice shows where we collaborate with artists, so I’d love to collaborate with her someday. I’m currently pitching the idea to her.’
In the second half of the event, the seven contestants were split into Team UNO (Uno, Miura and Yamamoto) and Team KAGIYAMA (Kagiyama, Tomono, Shimada and Nakata) to compete in a five-round challenge. The challenge involved asking questions to the 500-strong audience and guessing whether the total number of people would fall within a specified range. When asked if there were five or fewer people, Team Uno successfully narrowed it down to one person by asking who had travelled from Miyagi Prefecture for the day’s event. When the question was posed to leave just one person remaining in the venue, Kagiyama asked, ‘Who is going to Disneyland after the event ends?’, whilst Uno asked, ‘Who here has the surname Uno, apart from my parents?’ Both questions left just one person remaining, resulting in a tie. Consequently, all seven players secured the right to be treated to a meal by the Colantotte team when they visit their new headquarters.
Towards the end of the event, the skaters each wrote their aspirations for the season on a signed card. Uno, who wrote ‘Full effort’, said, ‘I’m currently expanding my activities, and I want to give my all to everything I take on. I intend to give my all to anything I find fun or interesting.’ Tomono, who wrote ‘Deepening my love for skating’, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, ‘I hope this will be a year where I can enjoy the sport not just as a competitor, but from various other perspectives.’ Meanwhile, Nakata wrote ‘4A’ and “The quadruple Axel! I want to be the first Japanese skater to land it, so I hope to be able to show it to you all someday,” he declared, drawing a chorus of “Ooh!” from the audience in support.
Finally, the seven skaters walked slowly through the stands together as they took their bows, continuing to entertain the audience right until the very end.
